LMI-UK Director Neale Carter has been named as Scotland's Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 by the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC).
The Chamber Awards were launched by BCC in 2004 to recognise and celebrate business excellence through the successes and achievements of their members. The award won by Neale is presented to the individual who has been instrumental in the success of a business. It takes into consideration the overall performance of the business over the last three years, what the entrepreneur believes makes them stand out from the crowd and vision for their business.
The regional title was secured by Neale following his application that documented his exceptional track record, unique business approach, and ambitious plans for the future.
Most remarkable of all is that Neale and his family only moved to Scotland in 2006 from Darlington and at this time he was completely unknown in the region, had no networks or contacts, and absolutely no client base. Regardless of this obvious obstacle Neale's positive attitude, desire to succeed and his determination to help others drove him on and within 18 months he was working with high profile clients that included Celtic Football Club, Scottish Television and Allied Irish Bank all of whom actively provide endorsements that assure the continued growth of his business.
Neale commented: "I know from the feedback I received from both clients and peers that my enthusiasm is infectious. I relate to people well and have a genuine understanding of their challenges and issues by asking the right questions and listening with controlled empathy. I am a product of the Leadership Management product, which means that I have clear focused written goals; I am well organised and highly productive whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. This award also recognises my desire to help others, which is my prime motivation. We moved to Scotland to seek a more fulfilling life and have found it in every sense."
Neale beat off competition from dozens of businesses to win the title, sponsored by Staples. Judges said the standard of entries was particularly impressive but that Neale stood out for his/her drive, passion, innovative approach and great customer service ethos.
Staples Head of Marketing Yetunde Ige said: "Entrepreneurs have a unique spirit, which often involves putting everything on the line for the passion and love of what they do. Neale is a great example of how this sort of attitude, together with determination and desire, can result in the creation and development of a truly successful business. He recognised an opportunity and has continually gone the extra mile to deliver an outstanding result. In the current climate this is even more of an achievement."

What do our clients say about Michael and his work?
Airtex Products Ltd
"It is testament to the course, and your delivery of it, that I have not only found the time to complete it, but I strongly believe, the course itself has helped me to cope with the additional workload far more effectively that I would otherwise have done."
SEEDA
"I would like to thank Michael Levy and say how much I enjoyed and how beneficial the LMI programme has been to me. I have been rather skeptical of management training and this has been reinforced by a number of poor training packages that I have attended over the years. I did not have this impression after attending the above course - it was well presented, professional and matched my objectives."
Riverstone Managing Agency Ltd
"I have found Michael's coaching and mentoring style very beneficial and the one-on-one sessions allowed me to link the concepts in the course to specific work related issues."
