As franchising has developed over the years, so the number of businesses that choose to franchise has increased. For example, in 1995 the industry consisted of 474 different brands but by 2010 this number had increased to 900.
With this growth comes increased interest and, consequently, increased diversity amongst the groups of people who are attracted to this business model.
