International franchising

The European Franchise Federation (EFF), a non-profit membership organisation that represents the national franchise associations from Europe, says that there are 8,500 distinct franchise brands operating in the EU, compared to about 2,500 US brands, with the UK seen as one of the strongest European markets for franchising.

There are several aspects to consider with franchising internationally, but first you need to be clear about what category you fall into:

  1. You have a business that you want to franchise abroad.
  2. You have a proven business abroad that you want to franchise in the UK.
  3. You live abroad, but are interested in joining a UK franchise.
  4. You live in the UK, but are interested in international franchise opportunities.

If you have a business that you wish to franchise either outside or within the UK make sure you understand the main considerations about franchising your business internationally.

If you are looking to join a franchise either abroad or in the UK make sure you understand the considerations about joining a franchise in a foreign country.
