Case Study - Tara Dye
I was on maternity leave after having my second child when I spotted an article about Jo Jingles, in a Daily Mail feature on franchising, and how it offered an opportunity to run a business from home that would fit around a young family.
I had formerly been training to become a management accountant within a major bank. However, I had always been interested in working for myself and Jo Jingles looked like the perfect opportunity, combining my musical background with the business training I had learnt while studying.
I began teaching 9 classes over 3 days a week in the spring of 1999. After 18 months and long waiting lists I employed a teacher to start an additional 9 classes. Waiting lists have continued to increase rapidly and I have expanded the business further.
As with setting up any new business, hard work and long hours were required to launch, and thereafter complete the administration required. However the advantage of working from home means that these jobs can be completed once my children are in bed.
Running a franchise means I get the best of both worlds – I have the opportunity to run my own business and be my own boss, but at the same time I have the backing and support of an established organisation. Being part of a franchised company means that I can contact my more experienced colleagues for advice, something that was especially valuable in the early days.
I consider it a privilege to be a part of Jo Jingles. It is so rewarding to share the parents delight at the capabilities of their babies and toddlers. I have a perfect job that I enjoy, and I still have free time after school and in the school holidays.
