Case Study - Tracy Berry
Thanks to Tracy Berry's mum she found her vocation, her mum's faith in OSCAR as a customer, was enough for Tracy to realise that her life was about to change when her area of Hertford was in need of an OSCAR business.
“I always wanted to work for myself but had no idea of where to begin or what to do – until OSCAR came along. Realising that franchising offered the security and support of a larger organisation in the public domain I found confidence. Careful research helped me to establish that the pet industry was a growing market; with so many homes owning pets it assured me that recession was not going to affect my progress. To start my own business with a great team of professional experts behind me and the chance to meet other franchisees and research the company has meant that I have left no stone unturned. I had a fantastic training programme on how to run my business and gain a qualification in pet nutrition, as well as a marketing tool kit with leaflets and advertising material. It made we wonder why I had not looked into an OSCAR franchise years ago!
“Working with newspaper media, publishing and CCTV was not wasted because it prepared me for administration and customer record keeping as well as giving me an idea of how to promote myself. The personal service that I am able to offer helps me to meet new people and their pets and, combined with a quality product that speaks for itself, has meant that I am finding great satisfaction in helping pets suffering with nutritional or behavioural problems.
“Working for myself means there’s no need to be looking over my shoulder thinking I should be at my desk, there’s time to fit in those regular dental appointments or pick up some shopping in between earning a living and thoroughly enjoying my day.”
