Case Study - Caroline Harrison
“I had been looking for a new challenge for some time, something that I could really get my teeth into. I had run my own small holding, worked as a volunteer for the Blue Cross and shared my life with five cats, two dogs and a pony so I knew that I wanted to continue working with animals. Wagging Tails has a fantastic reputation in my area as director Lisa Suswain launched the Wagging Tails pilot franchise here in 2008. I was thrilled when the franchise came up for re-sale in February 2011.
I contacted Lisa and submitted my application form and was soon being interviewed at head office. From the start, the level of information provided to me enabled me to go away and discuss with my family and friends so I could make an informed decision as to whether this could be the right role for me.
The training was very thorough although I must admit I was a bit worried, not having been used to working a computer, but it all comes as second nature now and I can truly say I am enjoying my job very much. Every day I speak to lovely owners and arrange holiday homes with one of my fantastic team of carers plus I am able to do this from the comfort of my home surrounded by my beloved pets!
Since taking over the SO area I've had great support not only from Lisa but also from dog owners who already use the service, existing carers, vets and dog trainers who recommend the service. It was important to me that I was doing something I really believed in and where the welfare of animals takes priority. I would recommend a Wagging Tails franchise to anyone who is as passionate about dogs.
In the short time that I have been running the SO postcode franchise my business is already growing quicker than I expected and I am recruiting some wonderful carers. I'm really enjoying the challenge and look forward to expanding the business over the coming years.”
