MEMBERSHIP CHECKLIST

Introduction

This section provides information for companies interested in joining the British Franchise Association including a checklist for each category of membership:

FULL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

CHECK LIST OF DOCUMENTATION & INFORMATION REQUIRED:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. Completed Bank Reference Form
  3. Copy of Current Franchise Agreement
  4. Copy of Master Licence Agreement (if applicable)
  5. List of Current Franchisees (to include names, addresses, telephone number and commencement date)
  6. Latest Audited Accounts for Franchisor company for the last three years
  7. Latest Audited Accounts for two franchisees together with supporting Business Plan for the past two years
  8. Copy of Current Prospectus/Promotional Material
  9. Copy of financial protections offered to prospective franchisees (if any) and supporting base financial data
  10. Any other documentation e.g. operations manual, training schedule or other relevant documentation pertaining to the franchise

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

CHECK LIST OF DOCUMENTATION & INFORMATION REQUIRED:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. Completed Bank Reference Form
  3. Copy of Current Franchise Agreement
  4. Copy of Master Licence Agreement (if applicable)
  5. List of Current Franchisees (to include names, addresses, telephone number and commencement date)
  6. Latest Audited Accounts for Franchisor company for the last two years
  7. Latest Audited Accounts for one franchises together with supporting Business Plan
  8. Copy of Current Prospectus/Promotional Material

PROVISIONAL LISTING APPLICATION

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE ADVISORS (NON FRANCHISOR ORGANISATIONS)

Check List of Documentation and Information Required for Accreditation as a bfa Affiliate

You are required to provide the following:

  1. Evidence of professional standing
  2. Evidence to show that staff qualified in the profession concerned are experienced in the application of that profession to franchising.
  3. A commitment by a nominated responsible officer for the maintenance of the organisation's arrangements for providing appropriately experienced advice on franchising to its clients.

To satisfy 1 & 2 the requirements will be as follows:

Legal Firms
Professional standing Through the Law Society
Franchise experienceThrough references

Accountants
Professional standingThrough the Accounting regulatory bodies
Franchise experience Through references

Banks
Professional standing Through the banking regulatory bodies
Franchise experience Through the establishment of a Franchise Unit

Consultants
Professional standing Through the examination of work done and by interview or through a professional qualification in consulting or through FCA membership
Franchise experience Through examination of franchising work and by interview or by references or through FCA membership

Other Professions
Professional standing Through an appropriate professional qualification or examination of work done and by interview.
Franchise experience Through examination of franchising work and by interview or by references

Interviews may be required to be conducted by the Association's Membership Committee or by the Association's Officials as appropriate.

Where references are required, references (at least two) may be drawn from Full Member Franchisors, Associate Member Franchisors and/or Affiliates in the same professional field, in any combination.

You must also provide the following:

  1. A brief history of your company's involvement with franchising and of the principal's of each offices involvement with franchising.
  2. Specific details of the nominated responsible officer's franchise experience.
  3. A copy of your company's literature.
  4. A copy of latest company's annual report (where available).
