Auditel complete Great British Bike Ride 04/08/2011 04:56

Auditel Great British Bike RideA team from Auditel has just completed The Great British Bike Ride, which was staged from Land’s End to Twickenham Stadium. The five-day ride raised in excess of £8,000 for Help for Heroes

Team Auditel, consisting of five intrepid Auditel consultants, their Business Development Director and a representative from one of their suppliers, took part in this year’s gruelling 350 mile ride. With an average of 70 miles to cover on each day of the ride, the team started training in October last year and averaged over 1,750 miles each in preparation – equivalent to riding from Lands End to John O’ Groats and back again.

The team stayed in tents provided by the Army and were woken by bugle calls at 5 o’clock each morning! Over the course of the five days they covered 350 miles with over 18,000 feet of climbing. Prior to the event, the team’s cycling experience was minimal, to say the least. As one team member explained: “Prior to my training, the last time I had ridden a bike was when I did a Sunday newspaper round.” Another said: “Our team riders fell off their bikes whilst still in sight of the cycle shop and most hadn’t ridden a bike since they owned a Raleigh Chopper in the 1970’s!”
