Double-digit growth for The Wheel Specialist 19/02/2013 09:06

Sarah Kerr, one half of the Franchisee of the Year team, picks up one of two awards from The Wheel Specialist technical director Neil MurphyThe Forest Hotel, Solihull, hosted The Wheel Specialist 3rd Annual Conference on Saturday 9th February with a 100% attendance of its nationwide franchise network.

The franchise reported sales growth of 14% over 2011 with total revenue exceeding £3.5 million. 2012 saw the opening of five new franchise branches and 2013 will exceed that figure with openings scheduled in January, March and April. An additional five branches are already signed to roll out during the course of the year, taking the overall network total to 24.

An awards ceremony took place with the best performing franchisees achieving recognition, with one branch in particular excelling across the year. The top three accolades were:

  • The Wheel Specialist Franchisee of the Year – Vernon & Sarah Kerr, Fareham
  • The Wheel Specialist Best Customer Service – Mark Harnden, Nottingham
  • The Wheel Specialist Best Sales & Marketing – Vernon & Sarah Kerr, Fareham

Two additional awards were given to recognise dedication and commitment and were presented to Will Rush, Leeds and Adam Bignall, Fareham for their loyalty to their respective employers with more than five years’ service each.

The Wheel Specialist managing director Ginny Murphy commented: “Our ethical approach to franchising and unrivalled support infrastructure has played a key part in helping our franchisees grow their individual businesses in a challenging economy and this is reflected in our significant continued growth – and also the full attendance at our conference.”

    Jim, 40, is married and has two daughters aged 12 and 10. He began his career as an apprentice with coal mining equipment manufacturer, Anderson Strathclyde, moving from there to Ferranti. He then went into sales with R D Taylor - a distributor of high-tech materials for the electronics industry - where the turnover doubled during his time there. He then set up his own business in the electronics industry and had sales of over $50 million per annum at its peak.
