New franchisees for Pyjama Drama 01/10/2012 10:30

New recruits: (from left) Sally Butler, Jane Liddiatt and Karen BlundenChildren’s drama and creative play franchise Pyjama Drama has taken on two new franchisees, taking the total number of franchises in the network to 27. The company, which provides classes for children aged six months to seven years, has also just completed its first resale in the Shrewsbury area.

Sally Butler has taken on the Stockton-on-Tees business, while Karen Blunden will operate out of Hove. Jane Liddiatt becomes the company’s first franchisee to take over an existing area.

Pyjama Drama was developed by former drama teacher Sarah Owen and franchised four years ago. The business has grown steadily since that time and recently announced the appointment of Lee Dancy, managing director of franchise business Barking Mad, as a non-executive director.

Commenting on the new additions to the network, Sarah said: “We are delighted to have Sally, Karen and Jane on board and they all bring something unique to the team.

“Sally is a young drama graduate with incredible talent and energy; Karen is an extremely experienced drama teacher, who was head of drama at secondary level for many years; and Jane, who purchased an established territory, has amazing focus and enthusiasm, and is brimming with ideas to take her business to the next level. We feel privileged that they’ve chosen Pyjama Drama.”

Pyjama Drama was named as one of the Top 100 most innovative companies in the UK in the 2011 Smarta 100 awards and was named one to watch by entrepreneur Jacqueline Gold.
