The remarkable drive and ambition of Hamish Robertson, owner of robertson technologies has been recognised by his peers with nominations for one of Britain’s most prestigious business awards.
The young Scots entrepreneur has been nominated for the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust Director of the Year award and also the Emerging Director award by the Institute of Directors Scotland, the professional body which reflects the mindset of Britain’s top boardrooms.
If successful in the Edinburgh, Lothians and the Borders categories, Hamish will go forward to the UK national finals to compete against the cream of the UK’s business and entrepreneurial talent.
Hamish, who founded robertson technologies in his final year of university in 2005 to provide online data backup services to businesses in Edinburgh, has transformed the company into a full service IT operation, which acts as an outsourced IT department for SMEs across the UK.
In 2009, he launched a franchise operation, aiming to create a nationwide brand which provides computer support services to businesses. Five territories have been awarded in 2010 alone.
In 2008, Hamish was awarded the title of Edinburgh’s PSYBT Young Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as being short listed for the National Award.
In 2010, he was highlighted as a Rising Star in the Scottish Business Insider magazine and shortlisted regionally for the Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
He said: “I regard this recognition by the Institute of Directors as a tribute to the team we have built up at robertson technologies which has taken the company on such an exciting journey – further than we could have dreamed when we set out in Edinburgh nearly six years ago.
“Whether I am successful or not on the night, it is particularly gratifying to have had the approbation of my peers. robertson technologies has always aimed its services at small to medium enterprises, the backbone of British business, and we look forward to providing an even better service in the future.”
