Mike Parrett, one of the UK's leading experts on Building Pathology, has invited disaster restoration specialists Rainbow International to feature in Mike Parretts Guide to Building Pathology, a series of DVD's, aimed at increasing understanding and promoting best practice within the restoration and other building related markets.
The six part series deals with the pathology of buildings, why they fail, how to diagnose the problem and what remedial measures can be put in place. The programme topics are - Flooding, Roofs, Walls and Windows, Floors and Basements, Drainage & Services and finally Law & Litigation.
Rainbow International were chosen by Mike to show best practice within the flooding module, and how to restore a building back to its pre-incident condition.
In the series, Mike directly addresses gaps in Building Surveyors’ knowledge and not only provides examples of best practice but also a host of common mistakes that mar building construction, maintenance and renovation.
There are also visits to sites of maintenance and restoration work and interviews with leading contractors showing examples of best practice.
The DVD’s are packed with interesting facts and observations, including material comparisons, and the importance of the “breathability” factor.
Mike Parrett said: “Whilst researching the project and during visits to badly affected flood locations, it became highly apparent that Rainbow International were always the first restoration company on the scene.
“It also became obvious as time moved on, that their skill, expertise and empathy with homeowners during a very difficult time was of the very highest standard, so was delighted to invite them to provide examples of best practice within the drying module of this production.”
Bob Spencer, Training Manager with Rainbow International added: “It is most certainly a feather in our cap to be invited by such a leading expert on the built environment to feature in this production. Without a doubt it will be very welcomed in our industry and will help to raise standards of the restoration process.”
The series has been produced by Limelite Media and is being distributed by RICS Books. The cost is £359.99 for the full set of 6 DVD’s or £69.99 for each individual volume.
