2006 BFA FRANCHISOR OF THE YEAR AWARDS WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The winners of the 2006 Franchisor of the Year Awards were recently announced at the annual Awards ceremony on Thursday 18th May, at the Savoy Hotel in London.
This celebrated luncheon, sponsored by Express Newspapers and HSBC Bank, saw Driver Hire crowned this year’s Franchisor of the Year. Chief Executive, Chris Chidley, was presented with the winner’s trophy by BFA President Sir Bernard Ingham.
There were also two additional accolades where SUMO was named ‘Brand Builder of the Year’ and the ‘Enterprise Award’ went to VIP Bin Cleaning.
Cathryn Hayes, Head of Franchising at HSBC, commented: “Driver Hire is a prime example of how enterprise is at the heart of every successful business. As a long established, successful franchise, they could have rested on their laurels but instead have continued to innovate and excel in their market place.
VIP Bin Cleaning also demonstrated an enterprising approach in their drive for expansion both in the UK and overseas.
“HSBC is committed to supporting entrepreneurship and has been supporting the franchise industry for over 20 years – we are delighted to honour the innovators who lead and inspire within their chosen market place.”
Express Newspapers’ Business Advertising Manager, Yvette Taylor added: “Driver Hire has established and developed a great brand and everyone should be justly proud – we look forward to sharing their success story with our readers.
“The judges also felt that SUMO adopted a highly focused and professional approach to building a brand from the outset, with their success clearly demonstrated by their presence and profile within their chosen marketplace so early on in their development.”
The theme for this year’s awards was “Planning for Success” and the 2006 winners all displayed exceptional ability in this area. The afterparty, hosted by Express Newspapers on the Queen Mary, was an opportunity for the winners to celebrate their outstanding achievement.
