After completing my legal studies, I worked in global construction in legal and communications roles but I have studied music all my life. During a Monkey Music class where I had taken my little boy I got talking to the franchisee and she suggested there might be a local opportunity for me and I approached Head Office. Since then, I have taken on another existing franchise in a nearby territory so it’s lots of hard work but it is flexible and very rewarding and I feel I have a great work/life balance. I particularly like the ongoing teacher training – there is always something new to learn and we share our knowledge across the network. I love the teaching and I hadn’t realised quite how wonderful it would be to share the musical journey these young children are embarking on or how rewarding it would be to see them develop as each term progresses. I also hadn’t realised how sad I would be when the children leave, especially the ones you have taught since they were tiny babies. I also enjoy delivering the Monkey Music kids’ parties – it makes you realise how much the parents and children love what you are doing when they ask you to come into their homes and help them celebrate these milestones.
