Company Overview

The Wheel Specialist is the only nationwide alloy wheel refurbishment specialist that operates from fixed premises. We utilise the most modern equipment and the latest technology to provide an outstanding finish. We offer quality, great service and value for money with same day service options to all our customers and serve both the public and automotive trade markets. We also supply tyres and other associated products.

Franchise Overview

Our franchise network has been established for over 10 years and we have branches nationwide from Bournemouth in the south to Inverness in the north.

Our franchise was borne from the nationwide business demand at our company site for high quality, professional wheel refurbishment with excellent customer service and this demand continues to increase year-on-year. We still have virgin territories available across the UK and our franchise offering is becoming increasingly seen as an alternative investment opportunity as well as individual successful businesses.

Training

We deliver a comprehensive, bespoke training programme over several weeks before opening. Minimum 5 days classroom training covers the use of our unique lead-generating CRM, running your business and sales & marketing. With your technical training you will spend time at a franchise unit observing the process and logistics and then a further three weeks are spent training at your unit prior to opening so you can be sure you have the skills to achieve our required standards. Further support days in all areas will be at your unit to give you that extra help when you are up and running your new business.

Daily Life of a franchisee

A typical day will start with greeting your customers who are booked in that day and checking in vehicles. You will monitor your technicians’ progress to ensure our same day service deadlines are met, as well as responding to customer leads that have been generated through the CRM system. Good man-management skills and delegation are necessary, as is sales & marketing, as you will need a proactive approach to generating additional business with support every step of the way.

John & Amanda Tice

Husband-and-wife team John and Amanda Tice have recently brought the St.Albans franchise of The Wheel Specialist.

John, a keen car enthusiast, searched everywhere locally for an alloy wheel refurbishment service for his Porsche. Unsuccessful in finding somewhere close to home that had the quality service he wanted, he broadened his search and travelled all the way to Southampton to have his wheels refurbished by the branch there. He was so impressed with the service he received he decided to buy the business!

A clear niche market in the local area, the Tices are confident this is a service St.Albans will love. A common misconception when you scuff your alloy wheels is that you have to replace them. Wrong: a superior service, renovating your tired worn alloys, makes them look better than new and all for a fraction of the price of replacement wheels.

Fortunately they understand it can be a major inconvenience to be without your car, therefore they provide a same day service, drop your car in in the morning and have it back the same day. Whether in need of a repair, a manufacturer match or a unique, bespoke look, they’re your guys.

Derek Farr and Andy Thompson

Lifelong mates Derek Farr and Andy Thompson explain why joining The Wheel Specialist was the best decision they had ever made.

Derek explains: “I was working as a franchise consultant and was aware of The Wheel Specialist opportunity. I could really see the potential. I researched my local area further which showed an obvious niche in the market. When I mentioned the opportunity to my friend Andy, he was keen to partner up. We opened our doors to business in September and have never looked back.”

Both Derek and Andy are passionate about cars but have very different working backgrounds. “I was looking for a career change from engineering when Derek mentioned the franchise opportunity, it never crossed my mind that just a few months later I would be running my very own business,” says Andy. “The Wheel Specialist provided all the knowledge and support we needed to get up and running. Before we had even opened our doors the business leads where flooding in from the website, I just couldn’t believe the demand.”

Derek comments: “Due to my experience within the franchising sector I understood the power of the brand and this was one of the reasons that I was attracted to franchising. The Wheel Specialist really stood out and it sounded like just what I was looking for, a chance to manage a business in a market I enjoy coupled with the amazing income potential.”

“The benefits of managing your own team and business are endless, I have a great group of people, the flexibility is fantastic and everyday is different. Seeing the end product gives me real pride in my work. The dedicated support team at head office are brilliant, they are there 24/7 to help with any issues we have. We were given comprehensive training to make certain we were ready for our opening. New techniques and products are constantly being researched and developed by Head Office. The whole experience has been breath taking,” Andy said.

Franchisor Neill Murphy adds: “Derek and Andy are model franchisees; both are smart, motivated and hard working, they make a superb team and are eager to grow their business. We are over the moon with the success of their business and look forward to celebrating their achievements.”

Willie Forsyth

“Having realised a niche in the market for a dedicated alloy wheel refurbishment service in the Grampian area, my first thoughts were to ‘go it alone’. However, during my market research, I came across The Wheel Specialist, who had an opening for a franchise in the area. I visited The Wheel Specialist HQ and two existing franchises to get a feel for the business and what a franchise set up would offer compared to setting up my own, and there was no debating that the franchise model was the way forward.

“The Wheel Specialist offers full technical and front office training prior to start up, easy access to existing suppliers and credit terms, and full time support in technical and sales and marketing. Our online CRM system covers every aspect of running our business and our website is user friendly and allows our clients access to online quotations, none of which I would have had access to on my own.

“The Wheel Specialist brand is dedicated to ensuring our clients receive the best value for money service, which can be very demanding on a franchisee, however this is geared to ensure a healthy return on my investment. If the brand is followed, The Wheel Specialist allows you the feeling of running your own business, with the assurance of network support and experience to make it a success.”
