Airbnb Professional Cohosts, Pass the Keys, are excited to announce that they have welcomed seven new franchisees based in Chichester, the North York Moors, South Pembrokeshire, Wells, West Dorset, Scarborough and South Hams!
This takes the UK’s leading short let management company’s total franchise number to 36. Against the backdrop of the 2021 staycation boom, the new franchises are predicted to thrive as some of the most popular short-let holiday destinations in the country, thanks to their natural beauty, amenities and variety of attractions.
A recent study carried out by The Cumberland found that an overwhelming majority of Britons are planning to holiday within the UK (71%), and that cottages are one of the most popular types of accommodation for those holidaying in Britain (31%). This is promising news indeed!
Chichester, Scarborough and Wells provide the perfect short city break, full to the brim with culture, rustic scenery and locally sourced eateries. They are all perfectly placed as centres from which to explore the English coast and its charming local market towns/villages.
The North York Moors and South Pembrokeshire, with their AONB status, breathtaking scenery and historical significance are also an obvious staycation destination, with plenty of space to social distance this summer. Together, these seven new franchise territories will be visited by approximately 17 million tourists every year, many of whom require short term accommodation.
West Dorset is also home to a picturesque AONB featuring coastal cliffs, beaches, heathland, forest and rolling hills. South Hams lies on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, with trails winding through valleys with Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses.
These additional territories are part of Pass the Keys latest initiative for rural expansion to areas in which there is a demand for a new approach to short-let property management. The company lists its holiday lets on the largest market platforms such as Expedia, Booking.com and Airbnb, thereby increasing exposure and occupancy rates for its hosts as well as using pricing algorithms to give their hosts the optimum nightly rate.
In an interview in April 2021 with CNBC, the CEO of Airbnb, Brain Chesky explained “To meet the demand over the coming years, we’re going to need millions more hosts”. He continued “I think that we probably will have a problem where there will probably be more guests coming to Airbnb than we’ll have hosts for, because … we think there’s going to be a travel rebound coming that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen”.
