Awards are given in recognition of positive achievements, and in some special cases they are inspired by those who went before.
When one of its much-respected Irish franchisees passed away recently, greeting card publishers Card Connection wanted to honour his memory by creating a new award in his name.
The Tony Lees Award for ‘Going the Extra Mile’ is a fitting legacy to Tony’s 9 years hard work and positive contribution to the Card Connection family of franchisees. Its first recipient is franchisees for Cornwall, David and Marie Clements. Despite purchasing their territory almost 14 years ago, their enthusiasm and contribution remains undimmed. The award credits their continued excellent work, not least in their supportive attitude towards fellow Card Connection franchisees.
“We were surprised and delighted to receive this award. It was a special privilege, as this was the first time the award had been given,” commented David and Marie. “We had the pleasure of talking to Tony at a Card Connection Annual Conference, so had a good conversation with him and feel we got to know the person who inspired this award. Words can’t say what an honour it is to receive this”.
