David Watts Chrysalis Partners

David Watts
Chrysalis Partners

I believe I would add a significant contribution to the Board of the BFA. I have been employed in senior roles since the early nineties and was MD of a US based business at age 28, a business I managed from £100K of revenue to over £10m when I departed to embark on a career in franchising in 2005. I have worked as a master franchisee and as a pseudo franchisee and now as a franchisor. I have valued being a member of the BFA from the outset of the relationship with Chrysalis Partners and I’ve steadfastly advocated the value of the BFA and what it stands for.

I value integrity and openness and have always been transparent with my franchisees and supported them well and we’ve not lost a single franchisee on performance issues from day one. I respect the BFA a great deal and would represent the BFA professionally and honestly at all times.

Chrysalis Partners is a Business Coaching and Consulting franchise working with small to medium businesses to help them grow. Our franchisees continued to work effectively during the pandemic and we look to constantly develop our systems to keep us at the forefront of the Coaching and Consulting marketplace.

Eve Gonsalves Energie Fitness

Eve Gonsalves
energie Fitness

I am a board level business leader and dual qualified lawyer (both in the UK and New Zealand) with 20 years experience providing counsel, drive and direction for a range of clients across various sectors including franchising. My versality has enabled me to contribute to commercial success of businesses, to innovate in the support for franchisees and to design systems that protect the interests of franchisors. I have been favoured for my ability to simplify complex concepts, ensure high quality standards are met and maintained and simultaneously reducing costs by streamlining processes. I am passionate about empowering women in business and I do this by acting as a role model for other females in my organisation (and males).

I am a mother of 2 with keen interest in the community both within and outside my professional setting. Integrity is important to me. I believe in giving my time, knowledge and voice to local community issues – e.g. my local residents association who are committed to stopping further development on our green belt. In summary I am a mum, avid fitness enthusiast, baker, crafter and intrepid gardener with a passion for helping women to succeed both in business, and in life.

Founded in 2003, énergie is the longest established fitness franchise in the UK and has played an instrumental role in establishing fitness franchising in the UK marketplace. The hallmark of the company’s success has been its ability to continually reinvent itself in a fast-changing and competitive market over a prolonged period.

Claire Robinson Extra Help

Claire Robinson
Extra Help Ltd

I have a passion for franchising and helping franchisors. Having amalgamated the AFA with the bfa earlier this year, I feel I’d like to have a voice on the board for the lifestyle brands, the sometimes smaller, less expensive brands who really need representation. I’m well respected within the franchise world and have always been a supporter of the bfa even with my role as CEO of the AFA, there was a need for another organisation at the time but now we are one organisation I’d be honoured to have the opportunity to work with the board for the greater good of franchising.

Franchisor of Extra Help and former CEO of the AFA for 6 years. I’ve worked extensively, often on a voluntary level within the franchise sector, firstly for EWIF as a regional director and then then as the CEO of the AFA. Passionate about supporting franchisors whilst keeping up standards within the industry.

Extra Help is a management franchise offering home help services predominantly for the elderly, although we do offer services to anyone who needs us, providing our franchisees with multiple avenues for income. Established in 2010 with 35 franchisees across the country. We’re a low investment franchise with a caring nature.

Lynne Newman Fun Fest

Lynne Newman *re-election*
Fun Fest Franchising UK Ltd

Having been on the board for the last 2 year, I am now seeking re-election. My main reason for nominating myself initially was that I want to be able to contribute to the future direction of the BFA. I am a strong supporter of the initiatives to make membership more affordable for new and lower cost franchisors and would like to continue to work on making membership more accessible. I want to be part of an ethical organisation which puts the needs of franchisors and franchisees at the heart of its operations, building trust, professionalism and pride in our sector.

Born in Cornwall, I graduated from Aston University and started my career in Marketing at Cadbury. Having lived Australia & Ireland, I’ve settled near Solihull with my husband, 3 sports-mad sons and Winston, the Golden retriever. I enjoy feeding family & friends and fresh air & exercise in the countryside.

We are in the business of childcare with 2 brands/franchises: – Fun Fest with a network of 25 Holiday Clubs – Canopy Children’s Nurseries which launched last year with the first one opening next month They offer high quality, child-led childcare services which meet the needs of modern parents.

Ellie Tidy Guinot

Ellie Tidy QFP
Guinot-Mary Cohr UK Ltd

Just over 7 years ago Ellie entered a new chapter; a role in franchising, little did she know this was the ideal field for her skill set. The best practice sharing and educational opportunities combined with ongoing support and empowerment demonstrated by the sector has proven contagious, fuelling her ardency and inspiring her to leverage her position in the beauty arena to have credible conversations regarding business format franchising. The BFA have been a huge part of this journey and she is keen to give something back, put her knowledge and voice to good use and support the future of franchising.

Whether it’s being a speaker at events, being a member of the Trailblazer Beauty Apprenticeship steering group, leading the training team or completing facials on celebrities; Ellie’s knowledge and dedication has enabled her to forge 20+ years’ experience in a field she’s passionate about. Her aptitude for beauty and Guinot’s brand concept has led her into franchising.

With 50+ years’ industry experience, Guinot has become a leading salon brand by designing avant-garde skincare methods and products at the forefront of technology. Available in 70 countries, Guinot is transforming the market by bringing beauty to franchising, professionalising salon businesses positioning them as a credible alternative to aesthetic medicine.

Angela Sterling Lingotot

Angela Sterling
Lingotot Ltd

I relish the opportunity to make real change within franchising within the BFA. I am particularly interested in promoting the Lifestyle Membership agenda and increasing membership, particularly amongst women franchisors. Having built up my brand from scratch in order to achieve my personal family goals and franchising with 2 babies under 2, and leading a network of over 100 women (and 1 man!), I have a deep understanding of the ongoing issues and know I could add a great deal of value. As a qualified teacher and as an accreditation centre, I have a keen interest in promoting education.

I have gained so much personally and professionally from franchising and I am dedicated to helping others. I have a strong track record with this as ex-chair of EWIF and mentoring several female-led brands in the franchise sector. I also work as a local councillor.

Lingotot teaches languages to around 20,000 children per week aged 0-12 across the UK and Ireland. We work in the community, nurseries, and particularly in schools. We offer qualifications for primary aged children in MFL as well as teacher training and business franchising qualifications for our franchisees.
