Ellena Morgan, Little Voices. Next Generation Winner 2022
“Winning the BFA ‘Next Generation Franchisee’ award meant so much to me; it was a huge acknowledgement that all the hard work my team and I put in was worth it and a great confidence boost to me personally. The parents of the children I teach were absolutely thrilled about it too; it gave them great confidence in us as a company and they shared all my social media posts about our win, with supportive comments, which was so lovely. I’m so proud of myself and my team. I would recommend anyone to enter the awards; even just filling out the application form gave me a chance to assess how far I’d come since starting the business and winning, well that was just icing on the cake.”
Asha Marie Richardson, Razzamataz. Lifestyle Franchisee Winner 2022
“I feel overwhelmed. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of my team, my head office and my amazing family. Winning this award means so much to us all. Nobody at home will believe we’ve won! I joined Razzamataz with a vision that I wanted to create a school that would offer opportunities for children living in rural areas and expose them to all the wonderful things that come from participation in the performing arts, tonight’s award is the most wonderful recognition of all our hard work and I’ll be taking it back to the Lakes with pride.”
John Strange, Aspray. Community Focus Winner 2022
“I’m really quite emotional at winning. I suppose you’re in business to make money and make a profit but to be able to do something a wee bit different and to help other people has changed my life as well as the businesses. It means the world to me and my team to see the impact we can make on a person’s life, both through the work we do as Aspray Glasgow West, and also through the extra community work we do, something I plan to expand further as the franchise continues to grow. This win will mean everything to my team because they are the ones that support me every day; the ones that listen to my hair-brained ideas and put them into action. That’s why I’m here today, because of them, my wife, my family, my friends and my team, it’s all because of them.”
Reema Mavani, McDonald’s Restaurants. New Direction Winner 2022
“I feel overwhelmed and so pleased. Being a McDonald’s franchisee means I wear many hats, I listen to my team, they come up with the ideas and I have an open-door policy to ensure I keep listening to them. I am always looking to move the needle, whether that is to continue expanding my business, becoming involved in a new local initiative, building my team or investing in technology to enhance customer experience. As I continue to do well in business, it’s important at the same time that I am being socially responsible to my community and my people.”
Jessie Lilley, Babyballet. BFA Star Performer and People’s Choice Winner 2022
“I can’t speak! I couldn’t believe I won the first one, let alone a second! I love babyballet®. It has been my life for nearly 14 years and it is my aim to bring it to even more children. Developing a SEND programme is a massive passion of mine. I’m really proud of what we have achieved and what we are going to achieve in the future, so that there can be babyballet® stars all over the world regardless of their needs, disability or gender, because every child deserves to dance.”
Karim Jivraj, Queensway. HSBC Best in Class Multi-Unit Leader 2022
“It feels truly amazing to have won this award. I’m so proud of all the people that sit behind me. My family, my team, my franchisor, my suppliers, and HSBC. It is them that I have to thank for this amazing award. As a business, we are excited to grow our people in line with our growing estate. We want to promote from within, design career trajectories for our bright stars and continue to give our teams opportunities to challenge themselves and achieve their personal and professional aspirations.”
Angela Sterling, Lingotot. Special Judges Award Winner 2022
“I’m shocked, stunned and emotional! I’d like to thank our whole network. I couldn’t do a single thing without my franchises. I’ve fallen in love with franchising. Our franchise is 100% women, and it is such a good way for women to start their own businesses in a really collaborative, supportive environment.”
Angie Coates, Monkey Music. Bronze Franchisor of the Year Winner 2022
“I’m absolutely delighted to receive this award on behalf of everyone at Monkey Music. We came through Covid and survived and I’m so proud of our entire network. We have worked hard to evolve our brand, so thousands of families can benefit from the value of early music education and have music in the heart of their lives. We will be celebrating 30 years in 2023 and this is a fantastic start to a year packed with great events and new developments.”
Graham Duckworth, Driver Hire. Silver Franchisor of the Year Winner 2022
“It feels amazing to have won the Silver award tonight, especially on the back of our Gold award in 2019. We have a strong business with great franchisees, a very strong office staff and a network that is really dedicated to providing a good service. The future of Driver Hire looks really exciting. The logistics sector is ever-changing, which means new opportunities – for example in the ongoing growth of online retail or demand for our new products such as customer-facing IT services to support business efficiency or our license acquisition service. We firmly believe the best is still to come.”
Mark Llewellyn, Revive! Gold Franchisor of the Year Winner 2022

Silver Franchisor of the Year Winner 2022 “We are delighted on behalf of our network and our head office staff to receive this award. It’s a massive team effort – we have a wonderful team and it’s amazing to see them recognised in this way. We expect there to be significant growth within the Revive! organisation over the next few years as the business continues its position as the key player within the SMART repair sector. We are continuing with our big growth plans, aiming for £40m network turnover by 2028.”
Denise Hutton-Gosney, Razzamataz. Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year Winner 2022
“I’m absolutely overwhelmed. I am so delighted to be taking this back to everyone at Razzamataz. We’ve got such an amazing team at our head office and all our wonderful franchisees, it’s such a team effort. We’re a family at Razzamataz. We have children and babies in our network that have gone through the Razzamataz culture and gone on to be classroom assistants, teachers and franchisees. I’m just so proud of them all. Razzamataz is proud to be contributing to growing our franchising community to raising the profile of franchising and creating tomorrow’s franchisees.”
Chris Ashton, Autosmart International. International Superbrand Winner 2022
“We’re really flattered and very honoured to have won the award tonight. We think it recognises all the huge hard work and energy put in by all our franchisees in all the markets we operate in. We are confident that by 2025 the number of sales units internationally will outstrip that of the UK.”
Theo Millward, Swimtime. Digital Transformation Franchisor Winner 2022
“We are elated. The team has worked incredibly hard. Rachel spearheaded a lot of the project, doing some amazing work. It’s truly incredible that we not only came through COVID but transformed the business digitally and have come out with this success. The digital transformation of Swimtime has been a milestone that has changed the course of this iconic national brand forever. As a network and family of passionate business owners, we are proud of what we have achieved.”
Nigel Dawson, easyStorage. Emerging Franchisor Winner 2022
“This is amazing. This award is a testament to the team and all of the work our franchisees and head office staff have put in over the last four years. As our franchisees grow their businesses and become more sophisticated in operations, bringing with it higher complexity challenges, it becomes ever more important to provide accurate, timely information to support decisions. We are developing our technology to meet these needs, adding more people to the support teams next year.”
