Cafe2U nominates award winners at national conference

The 7th National Cafe2U Conference took place in Solihull on the 8-10th of March, gathering the franchise network together for best practice tips, learning, participating, fun and celebrating success.

The weekend ended with the traditional Sunday morning Barista Jam, where a fiercely competitive “latteartoff” sponsored by Jon Skinner was won by Laura (Aberdeen); but with over 17 people involved it was fun and competitive at the same time!

The conference began on Saturday morning with Cafe2U founder Andy Simpkin and director of international operations Derek Black ‘live’ from Australia as they shared their beliefs and ideals on why and how the business has become a global success, and achieved such consistency of service and supply.

Chairman David Downie and UK managing director Tom Acland provided an insight in to the current position of Cafe2U UK, and its future growth opportunities. Operations director Will Vernon led a thought-provoking session on ‘Service Excellence’, and a Bolling Coffee Masterclass focused on coffee roasting, and specifically the Cafe2U blend, its origins, qualities, and taste profiles.

The conference incorporated the Cafe2U gala awards dinner, showcasing the best achievements from within the network. This year’s winners were:

Franchise Partner of the Year 2012/13: Iain Ballantyne – Cafe2U Chelmsford
– Iain and his wife, Jenny, will be jetting off on a luxury break to Barcelona
