When Rebecca’s youngest daughter started school, she knew it was time to start something new. “I spent many years in the corporate sector working as a buyer for Superdrug and Sainsburys. I loved the fast pace of retail and seeing my products on shelf. But I didn’t think it would give me the time I wanted with my daughters when they were young, so I spent a few years as a full-time mother. I knew there must be a middle ground, as I grew up with a successfully self-employed mother. I always wanted to run my own business one day, just like she did.”
In 2010, Rebecca launched her virtual business agency Get Ahead. Now in 2021, her team of over 40 experts provide virtual support to businesses of all sizes. From virtual assistants to social media managers, video conference facilitators, designers, bookkeepers and more, they help businesses to get ahead. The business has won awards for flexible working and the vast majority of the team are women who work flexibly around their families. Many of them have decades of experience, yet struggled to find flexible work that would allow them to work around their families.
Rebecca decided to move into franchising in 2017. “Having grown the business organically, I could see franchising was the perfect next step for the business. With a growing network of franchisees around the country, I am delighted to be helping other people achieve their dreams of running their own business, just like I did. I am a passionate advocate for all of the Regional Directors who are part of our collaborative and supportive team. Particularly over the past 12 months, some have taken the opportunity of redundancy to reconsider their employment options and put their future in their own hands by becoming a franchisee.”
