Michelle Marsland, Lingotot Tyne and Wear

Throughout lockdown, Michelle sent out Lingotot care packages to disadvantaged families. These included worksheets and link to online resources, plus links to free online classes that she ran for them, to ensure they didn’t miss out on language learning through these difficult times. Foreign language learning is always one of the first things to be taken off the timetable, as it’s not considered ‘core’. There was the potential for this to really widen the gap between advantaged and disadvantaged pupils during the school closures, but with Michelle’s packages, no child lost out. She is my community hero!
