What to expect

We know that in life and in business, every moment counts. Moments to grow and develop as individuals, creating a stronger, improved version of ourselves. But also, moments to reflect, relax and take time to listen, providing ourselves with what we need. For all these reasons this years Empowering Women in Business will focus on the topic of “making your moments count”.

We start off the day hearing from Pip Wilkins, CEO here at the BFA, about how she has made the most out of each day, and how even the small things can make a huge difference. Moving on to our first keynote speaker of the day, we are honoured to announce Harpreet Kaur, winner of the BBC 1 Apprentice 2022 who will be sitting down for a personal fireside chat with Pip. Before breaking for lunch, we have the Magic Six Speed Sessions, tackling topics from coaching and building positive circles to being self-aware and not standing in your own way.

Harpreet Kaur

Harpreet Kaur - winner of BBC Apprentice 2022, co-founder of Oh So Yum desserts and business partner to Lord Sugar. She gained investment for expansion & growth plans for her dessert business with millions of viewers watching. Currently running from 3 stores, stocked in Selfridges & a nationwide delivery e-commerce platform, Harpreet aims to inspire other young entrepreneurs and give them that boost of confidence. She made the leap from the corporate world of banking to now running a six-figure business today & is launching her own coaching & mentorship programme for entrepreneurs.

Sam McAlister

For ten years Sam McAlister was the interviews producer on BBC 2’s flagship news programme Newsnight, securing head-to-head pieces with Silicon Valley CEOs, world leaders and Hollywood stars. A former barrister, she turned to journalism after a successful career in criminal law and has since negotiated with everyone from Buckingham Palace to the White House, Facebook to Tesla.

Eniola Aluko

Eniola Aluko is one of the leading figures in women's football. During an impressive career on the pitch, she was a striker noted for her pace and finishing. She’s a double-FA Women’s Cup winner and three-time Premier/Super League champion and was league top-scorer with Chelsea. Eniola is also a qualified lawyer. Having taken her bar exams in New York and in London, she also worked in the city specialising in entertainment law.

For our second keynote session we are delighted to announce Sam McAlister, former interviews producer for BBC 2’s flagship news programme ‘Newsnight’, discussing ‘how to convince a Prince’. This is followed by an interactive panel of leading ladies in franchising. We round off the day with our final keynote session brought to us by double FA Women’s Cup winner and three-time Premiere/Super League champion Eniola Aluko, one of the leading figures in women’s football.
