The finalists of the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards 2020 have been announced, both in the franchisor and the franchisee categories.
Along with the annual conference, the awards is the flagship event on the franchising calendar and this year the finalists represent a particularly broad spectrum of the industry, ranging from pet care services to food retailers, in-home care providers to couriers, to name a few.
New Categories for 2020
New categories this year include International Superbrand, a franchisor category for franchisors that have expanded overseas from their country of origin while managing growth and increasing brand value; Local Focus, a franchisee category, with a key focus on making the business essential in the local community; and the HSBC Best in Class Multi-unit leader, a franchisee category open to any franchisee with a multi-unit portfolio either with the same brand or different ones, open to franchisees from companies in membership and not in membership alike.
Franchisor of the Year: InXpress, Revive! Auto Innovations, Home Instead Senior Care, TaxAssist Accountants, Snap-on Tools, Agency Express.
Emerging Franchisor: Vodafone UK, GutterPRO, My Window Cleaner.
Leadership & Culture: Tutor Doctor, Right at Home UK, Water Babies, The Alternative Board.
Business Transformation: Shuttercraft, Wimpy Restaurants, Bluebird Care.
International Superbrand: Expense Reduction Analysts, Little Kickers, InXpress.
Next Generation (franchisees under 35): James Burke – ActionCOACH, Liam Hargreaves & Jason Hough – Rainbow International, Jennie Bardrick – Radfield Home Care, Tom Mannion – X-Press Legal Services, Hannah James – Stagecoach Performing Arts.
Lifestyle: Heather Ratcliffe – Swimtime UK, Cris & Heather Salvador – Stagecoach Performing Arts, Katherine Watmough – Monkey Music.
Local Focus: Aaron Doherty – Footlights Theatre Schools, Sarah Canavan – Lingotot, Mark & Joanna Butler – Tutor Doctor.
Transformation: Siva Kugathas – ServiceMaster Clean, Nicola Thompson – Smallprint, Damon Brown – Minster Cleaning Services, Kim Pinnington – Puddle Ducks.
HSBC Best in Class Multi-unit Leader: Aly Janmohamed – Soul Food Group, Antony Tagliamonti – Scoffs Group, Claude Abi-Gerges – McDonald’s, Raja Adil – Adil Group, Jens Hofma – Pizza Hut.
