Company Overview

Poppies were established in 1980 and in 1984 and became the UK’s first domestic cleaning service franchise. Celebrating 40 years of success in 2020 we invite expressions of interest from new franchisees.  By becoming a Poppies franchisee, you will be developing your business in a growing market as part of a franchise brand that has real heritage and business values based on honesty and integrity. Our organisational goals are focused on delivering a great service that improves the lives of our clients, our staff and our franchisees using a proven model and an industry leading technology platform for all business systems.

Franchise Overview

Poppies really stands out as a leading franchise model with our track record of success in the domestic cleaning franchise sector. Our brand heritage and our business culture are linked to our ongoing investment in systems and technologies that improve our franchisees business efficiencies and increase profits. Some cleaning franchises are just that – a cleaning franchise. Not Poppies. Poppies is a relationship franchise, a technology franchise and a customer service franchise. It just so happens that cleaning is our business, and boy, do we do it well!

Our franchise model covers all business areas in a detailed and systematic way – we know exactly what you need to do to be successful in this business. You don’t need to have any previous business experience to be a Poppies franchisee – we give you all of the training, support and systems that you need to be successful.

Training

All new Poppies franchisees gain access to a pre-training module which covers some of the basic knowledge and skills required to run this business so that when they start their induction training they are fully informed and prepared. They then receive a comprehensive induction training programme including “classroom training”, practical training in the company’s training franchise and a further five days training on site in their own office/territory.

Initial training covers the key operational areas of:

  • Staff recruitment
  • Staff training and induction
  • Staff management and motivation
  • Carrying out a new client visit
  • Pricing a job
  • Effective work planning
  • Marketing & PR
  • Social media
  • Using the Poppies central IT and CRM systems
  • Operations – scheduling new work
  • Client account management and service quality control systems
  • Running your accounts system
  • Payroll
  • Business Planning and developing your franchise area

New franchisees are also paired with an existing franchisee as part of a formal ‘buddy’ programme – matches are based on backgrounds and skillsets as well as demographic similarities of territories and aspirations of franchisees.

Once established an ongoing programme of training enables franchisees to continue to develop their business skills in line with the changing needs of the business.

Daily Life of a franchisee

Poppies franchisees have a very stable business model – most customers are regular users of the service either weekly or fortnightly and this generates positive reliable cash flow with a very high level of client retention. Our business is growing every year and just a few new clients a month will see your franchise grow and your future selling price increase.

A working day can be very varied – interviewing staff, visiting new customers, planning the rotas, taking staff out to start a new contract, checking on an existing contract to ensure that the quality of service is maintained and looking after the financial management of the business. Our franchisees are business managers and managing all areas of the business means that a day is never dull but if you are looking for a proven business that can offer a better work life balance and a good income, Poppies could be the right franchise for you.

Poppies is a FULL member of the British Franchise Association.
