Rush was founded over 20 years ago by entrepreneurs Andy Phouli and Stelios Andrew. They developed their ambitious plan to open a group of nationwide salons that offers the highest standard of hairdressing and customer service.
Rush now has over 60 salons across London and the south east and are rapidly expanding. Over the next 12 months Rush plan to open another 40 salons, so are looking for franchisees to join the Rush hair movement and take up high profile locations across the UK.

Rush Kilburn opened its doors in July 2015 with longstanding Rush stylist, a specialist in Afro-Caribbean hair and now Rush franchisee, Nita Brainch, who will be bringing a touch of glamour to Kilburn High Street.
Previously working at Rush’s flagship salon ‘The House of Rush’ in Piccadilly, Nita has built an array of clients over her eight-year hairdressing career. She wanted to take the next step and pursue her passion to open her own Rush salon.
Tell us about yourself: What did you do before becoming a Rush franchisee?
I have been in hairdressing for eight years and I specialise in Afro hair. I had just qualified as a hairdresser when I came to Rush. Rush taught me some amazing skills and has made me the hairdresser I am today. I couldn’t think of a better team that I would want to go into business with.
Why did you decide to open a Rush Franchise?
I love being a hairdresser but I’ve always wanted to have my own salon and Rush have helped make this possible. I love the way Rush pride themselves with their exceptional customer service and they really encourage their employees to grow creatively. I’ve always been very ambitious and business minded so the next step for me was to open my own franchise salon.
Rush supports you in so many ways, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.
How did you choose your location? Was Kilburn always somewhere you had in mind?
I have a lot of trust in the Rush business, and they carefully choose their locations with the franchisee’s needs in mind. When the opportunity came up for a salon in Kilburn I jumped at the chance. Kilburn is a fantastic area, it’s multicultural, always busy and the salon is on the High Street right next to the train station. I wanted to cater to a wide range of clientele, so Kilburn is perfect for me.
How was the franchising process? What training and support did you receive?
The support I have received has been phenomenal from Rush, my existing clients and friends. Every step of the way, the Rush team have been there for me. Head office have been fantastic, the marketing team have provided me with everything I need to push the awareness of my new salon. The accounts department have been on hand at all times as well as the site manager and building team which have kept me updated regularly with the shop fit. The co-founders and directors have been incredible mentors and have held my hand every step of the way.
What are you most looking forward to in your new Rush salon?
I cannot wait to be a part of a strong team who serve the clients with extraordinary service and creative amazing hair every day. It feels incredible now that I am a Rush franchisee. I’m excited to be a salon owner and nurture my new team, Rush has given me a career not just a job and I want to pass this on to my team. I love meeting people so getting to know all the businesses and residents in the area will be very exciting!
What advice would you give someone considering franchising?
If you have the passion then everything else will follow, the rewards are endless and satisfying. You have to be full-hearted, dedicated and driven. I would recommend you to do thorough research and engage with existing franchisees to get a clear idea as to what is expected along the journey. Ask lots of questions before deciding if it’s right for you.
Nicola began her Rush career in our Croydon salon 6 years ago. Her love for the craft runs through each and every member of her team contributing to a successful salon.
Salon: Rush Reigate
Has been a Rush Franchisee since: August 2009
A few words from Nicola:
“I opened Rush in Reigate in 2009, and it has turned into a hugely successful salon, being a very profitable business from the offset. This was made possible with all the support I have received from the Rush head office team and mentoring from the owners Andy, Stell and George. It has been a very positive experience and look forward to exciting years to come.”
Rush’s 65th salon was opened in Twickenham with longstanding employee and now franchisee, Leona Loosley. Leona started as a Rush assistant and worked her way up to open her own Rush salon. Her passion for hairdressing and strong business acumen inspired her to open a salon in her local area.
Leona shares her franchise experience, her day to day work and advice for aspiring franchisees…
Why did you decide to open a Rush franchise?
My passion is for hairdressing but I also have strong business acumen so franchising was the next logical step for me. Rush really supports all their employees and encourages growth within the company through their various training courses, I wanted to pursue the business side of hairdressing and to own my own salon so decided to franchise.
What training and support did you receive?
Rush has given me lots of support and training every step of the way, as well as the strong support that I have from my family. Rush found the location, fitted and designed my salon and recruited my fantastic skilled team for me. The marketing team have driven lots of clients in from the minute I opened.
What is a typical day for you as a Rush franchisee?
Not only am I a franchisee, I’m also a stylist in the salon. So a typical day for me is arriving at the salon before opening and preparing for the day, my day is filled with serving clients as well as keeping on top of the managerial side of things and supporting my team.
In your opinion, what makes a successful franchisee?
A successful franchisee must be committed, determined, and have a real passion for what they do as there’s no denying it’s hard work but very rewarding.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?
Think long and hard as to whether you think now is the right time to open your franchise as you have to be able to give 110% of yourself to it. But for me, I love what I do, I have a passion for hairdressing and it has been worth it, I’m so happy I made this decision.
