Language for Fun is a unique way for adults to learn French, Spanish or Italian. Our exclusive method and regular socials keep our students smiling all year round.
Our 1,500-plus learners enjoy structured, effective teaching without the stress of homework or exams. They can relax and make friends at our sociable weekly group lessons – in person, live online or a combination of both.
We want to give clients the confidence to use their language skills abroad. That’s why we favour communication over perfection, keep grammar to a minimum and never ask anyone to speak in front of the group.
Our network of teachers includes more than 100 native speakers and language professionals based all over the UK. We are committed to giving our talented team the support they need to run sustainable businesses.
Franchisees pay a £1,800 start-up fee for a ‘business in a box’ including training, lesson plans, marketing materials and a range of bespoke software. They keep all the profits from their lessons, minus 20 per cent royalties.
Not all franchisees have a background in teaching. Thanks to a comprehensive training programme, linguists from all walks of life can start their own classes within weeks – on a timetable that suits their lifestyle.
You just need an A Level or equivalent in French, Spanish or Italian, as well as excellent spoken English.
Language for Fun was founded in 2007 by linguist Jessica Bonnard. She create a unique teaching method that draws on the principles of psychology to put students at ease, so they can learn in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Jessica decided that in her French lessons, no-one would ever be made to feel bad. Learners would not have to speak in front of the class, obsess over boring grammar or hand in compulsory homework.
Her motto of ‘communication, not perfection’ became an instant hit in her home town of Newcastle-under-Lyme. As more and more learners signed up, Jessica invested her earnings into helping the company grow.
Language for Fun branched out into Spanish materials in 2009 and Italian in 2015, with the help of its first franchisees. The company has since blossomed into a network of more than 60 centres in England and Scotland.

You will be teaching French, Italian or Spanish to small groups of adult language learners. Lessons can take place either in person – at community centres, cafes or your own home – or online using Zoom and our bespoke Virtual Learning Environment software.
You can run as many or as few classes as you choose, with only a small minimum number of learners. Outside of lessons, you will need to devote time to marketing your classes, responding to enquiries and handling payments with the help of our bespoke Business System.
