Mini First Aid was founded in 2014 by mum of six, Kate Ball, who began teaching baby and child first aid classes from her kitchen table in Leeds. As word spread and demand grew, Kate realised the potential to reach even more families and began franchising the business just a year later. In 2021, Mini First Aid gained national attention when BBC Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies MBE recognised its potential and joined as an investor and advisor.
Today, Mini First Aid is a multi-award-winning organisation with nearly 70 franchises across the UK.
At the heart of our offering is our core class – a 2-hour Baby & Child First Aid session for up to 12 people, priced from just £30 per person. We believe that potentially life-saving education should be accessible to all, without cost becoming a barrier. Our classes are practical, hands-on and engaging – designed to be memorable, enjoyable, and easy to apply in real-life situations.
Our trainers deliver sessions in a range of public venues as well as in people’s homes for private groups. Young babies are always welcome, so new parents can attend without the stress of arranging childcare.
Beyond our flagship course, we offer a full range of classes including sessions for early years, children and teens, as well as fully accredited qualifications for professionals. All of our courses are delivered by expert trainers in a warm, supportive environment – giving every participant the confidence to act in a medical emergency.
At Mini First Aid, developing people is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to helping our franchisees grow – not just in first aid knowledge, but in business management, media, and social media skills too.
Our regular webinar training sessions ensure you stay up to date with the latest guidance in first aid. We also host a variety of free professional development and first aid events throughout the year, giving our business owners the chance to refine their teaching, share best practice, and stay ahead of industry trends.
A highlight of the year is our annual conference – a much-loved date in every franchisee’s diary. The day is packed with inspiring training, expert-led workshops and valuable networking, and we round it off in style with a gala dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate our amazing community.
One of the biggest advantages of investing in a Mini First Aid franchise is the flexibility it offers. You have the freedom to work around your own personal goals and lifestyle, while being part of a supportive network all working towards shared success.
No two weeks are ever the same. One week, you might run just a couple of 2-hour classes for parents – each with space for up to 12 attendees. Another week, you could be managing a busy schedule of sessions in schools, Brownie groups, or community organisations, with the help of your additional trainers delivering classes simultaneously.
Whatever your goals, we’re here to help you achieve them. We’ll work closely with you to set realistic targets and provide expert guidance every step of the way, helping you grow a thriving and rewarding business.
