The Darlington-based company, which achieved Provisionally Listed status with the bfa this week, has launched a franchising division as it looks to branch out across the UK in the fast-growing home care market. There are 10 million people aged 65 and over in the UK (one in six of the population), with projections estimating that figure to nearly double to 19 million (one in four) by 2050.
Heritage Healthcare directors Glenn & Sally Pickersgill, Michelle Fenwick and Amanda Jackson have over 50 years’ experience in the homecare sector and hope to be leading one of the firms meeting that increase in demand.
Glenn, managing director of the company, said: “At Heritage we believe we are in a strong position to expand the business through franchising. We have an in-depth understanding of the market.
“As a result we will be able to offer the experience, knowledge and training needed to enable entrepreneurial individuals to develop a successful homecare business, based on an established model.”
The current cost to the State for elderly care is more than £20 billion a year and current government policy is focusing on reducing the demand for residential care and enabling older people to be supported and cared for in their own homes for as long as possible.
