Keele University Students’ Union opens Co-op franchise store for campus community

Keele University Students’ Union (SU) has teamed up with the Co-op to transform the existing campus store and better serve students, staff and visitors to the campus.

The existing store has undergone an extensive refurbishment and has relaunched as Staffordshire’s first Co-op franchise store ahead of the new academic year starting.

The store is operated by Keele SU and provides employment opportunities for students and members of the student union, creating many new jobs.

Shoppers will be able to stock up on essentials and find new everyday favourites with a wide-range of bakery products, food-to-go, an enhanced chilled, fresh and frozen range, meal ideas, award-winning wines, ready meals and pizzas, free-from, vegan and plant-based alternatives, and Fairtrade products.

The store also has a large number of self-service tills for further ease, speed and convenience.

Students who are TOTUM cardholders – the new name for NUS extra – receive a 10% discount at the Co-op.

A funding boost is also provided locally through Co-op’s Membership scheme. Membership of the Co-op unlocks additional value through in-store offers, and sees Members rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance. The Co-op also donates the same amount to local causes.
