Apollo Blinds Ltd

Apollo Blinds

Company Overview

Apollo Blinds is a retailer and installer of made-to-measure window blinds, awnings and plantation shutters. As well as offering popular ranges such as Roller, Venetian and Vertical blinds, it specialises in more-innovative window covering solutions such as energy-saving Duette® blinds and screw-free Intu® blinds.

Franchisees operate on a consultative basis, offering home appointments where they advise consumers on a range of topics from home design and light control to privacy and security, with the intention to promote and sell the best possible window covering.

Franchise Overview

Apollo Blinds is part of the Hunter Douglas Group (an international company that, with an annual turnover of £2 billion, is the world’s largest blinds company). Apollo Blinds directly benefits from this in areas such as innovation, collaborations with other group companies and the scale of production – both within the UK and also specialist products manufactured elsewhere in the world. Apollo Blinds franchisees are often first to market with products such as motorised blinds and digitally printed blinds.

Apollo Blinds is an established franchise business with a proven model and has operated since 1972.

Apollo Blinds

Training

New franchisees undertake an initial week-long structured training programme, which includes product training, hands-on installation practice and training on business administration systems such as product ordering.

Individual training plans are also devised to offer follow-up, with field-based support for both home consultations and installations provided until the new franchisee is completely confident.

New franchisees are encouraged to shadow existing franchisees to cement their product knowledge and practical installation skills.

Daily Life of a Franchisee

A ‘typical’ day primarily consists of attending home consultation appointments and making return visits to customers’ homes to install the blinds, shutters or awnings that have been sold.

Apollo Blinds places a lot of emphasis on encouraging franchisees to plan their time effectively and manage their businesses – from understanding how marketing activity is performing (to generate new appointments) to keeping a close eye on finances to understand key indicators such as costs of sales, average order value and profit margins.
