NatWest was the first of the main high street banks to set up a dedicated franchise team and is the leading provider of finance to the franchise sector. There is a central team whose role is to work with franchisors and franchise professionals to ensure the right financial services are provided to franchisors and franchisees. Franchisees are provided with financial services by locally-based managers that combine their understanding of the local high street with knowledge of franchising. We have sponsored the NatWest/bfa Franchise Survey for over 25 years and it remains the only study of its kind in the world.
Clearly as a bank our key role in the sector is the provision of financial services. Most typically these are loans, overdrafts, asset finance, invoice finance, card services, international payments and HR/health & safety advice. Across the UK we have c. 200 accredited franchise managers and support staff who have completed a training programme endorsed by our industry body, the Chartered Banker Institute, and the bfa.
