Metro Rod were delighted to welcome over 100 delegates to celebrate success at theirr motivational mid-year conference at the 5* Lowry Hotel in Manchester. The conference, themed focused on ‘What Makes a Difference’, recognised the achievements of Metro Rod’s 40 plus strong leading network of drainage and plumbing service providers, part of the Franchise Brands plc Group. It was a chance for the franchisees to come together to talk about business growth, share success stories and look forward to a profitable future.

Franchise business owners and members of the support centre team were initially addressed by Stephen Hemsley, Executive Chairman of Franchise Brands plc, who emphasised the Group’s commitment to investment and automation. He was followed by Metro Road managing director, Peter Molloy, who took to the stage and delivered an inspirational speech, encouraging the franchisees to grasp the opportunity for growth. He said:
“We are increasing market share with more engineers than ever before and new franchisees joining the system. 15 franchisees (36%) now have sales in excess of £1m.There is a tremendous amount of support available and huge investment in industry-leading systems and technology.”
Keeping our commercial drainage franchise owners up to date
Colin Rees and Chris Dent, Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Franchise Brands plc respectively, delivered an update to our franchisees, focusing on IT vision and growth, pledging support and mentoring to help their businesses excel. They were followed by Marketing Director, Robin Auld, who emphasised the power of combined local and national marketing and outlined huge progress before introducing the appointment of Ailsa Illingworth, as new Head of Marketing.
Franchisees were given an invaluable opportunity to participate in ‘Metro Pods’ and network with industry leading professionals in the areas of PR, training, health and safety, IT, apprenticeships, CRM, management accounts, marketing and sales, bid management and new technological developments unique to our business.
The entertaining finale to the conference was a specially produced video featuring everyone, from local staff members to Franchise Brands plc board members, singing along to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, emphasising the top line message, ‘Don’t stop now – there’s a whole world of opportunity out there!’
