After the success of One Stop’s Christmas partnership with FareShare, which supports vulnerable families with food across our communities, the convenience store retailer is working with the charity again over the summer holidays in a bid to help others less fortunate.
One Stop launched its partnership with FareShare at the end of last year, with an £80,000 donation which supported vulnerable families over the festive holiday and February half term this year. To further support these fundraising activities, One Stop is launching a Summer Holiday activity book which will be available to purchase in store for £1 from the 25th July – 2nd September. All profits from the sale of the books will go towards helping FareShare provide food to families struggling to get enough to eat.
Furthermore, One Stop is donating 2p to FareShare from every individual and multipack of fresh fruit and vegetables sold, helping to increase fundraising and provide food to people going hungry across the UK. This promotion will also run from the 25th July – 2nd September.
FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste, born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste.
This belief is as central to its work now as it was nearly 30 years ago. Neil Thomas, Head of Transformation at One Stop spoke of both the charity and the campaign and said, “We’re fully behind the work of FareShare. Through our large network of stores we see first-hand how some people in our communities need additional support. The reliance on charities such as FareShare is particularly sad to see in today’s society and is further exacerbated during the cost-of-living crisis.
“Throughout One Stop all our colleagues play an important role in maintaining and expanding the ongoing and great relationship we have with FareShare. We’re able to work together on a national level consolidating our efforts into this and other campaigns, as we raise additional funds and also seek to drive awareness of the charity’s work.”
“We believe that with over 900 stores throughout the UK, we’re able to continue making a real difference this summer and support FareShare. With the popularity of the activity books at both Christmas and Easter, we believe that the Summer activity book will be no different.”
This is the third time that One Stop has launched a children’s activity book to help raise funds for FareShare, featuring a new protagonist and hero in Suzi the Strawberry, this time the activity book focuses on a summer theme, with Suzi the Strawberry’s summer holiday journey charted through fun activities in the book with fun characters to find along the way.
The limited-edition book will be available to purchase for £1 across all of the One Stop stores and includes colouring pages, word searches, dot to dot.
The FareShare partnership will be promoted in store with point of sale (POS) and digital marketing, with colleagues fully supporting it. Neil went onto say “We have a broad customer base, with different levels of awareness from those who know very little about the charity, right through to recipients. We’re sure of one thing though, and that is all our customers will get fully behind this campaign and initiative, as we drive change together.
