Suffolk business owner Cameron Campbell has been shortlisted for the Next Generation Franchisee award of the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards.

Cameron became a Walfinch franchisee at the age of 23. Having left school at 16, Cameron initially worked in recruitment in the care industry, before joining Walfinch to recruit care workers in-house. He subsequently acquired Walfinch’s West Suffolk franchise in March 2020, in addition to the Colchester & North Essex franchise in July 2020.

Walfinch are a National brand providing care from Scotland to Brighton. They have a network of franchisees with over 200 years experience between them. Walfinch provide top class hourly care and Live-in care at home, they have over 300 clients and 300 care staff nationwide.

Known as the ‘Oscars’ of the franchising industry and set to take place on 24 November in Birmingham, the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards evening is the flagship event in the franchising calendar and finalists are definitely ones to watch.

This year saw a record number of entries submitted across all categories, leading to an overall increase versus 2021. Despite what continues to be challenging times for most independent businesses, the franchising sector has shown strength and resilience. As a result, many bfa members have reported strong financial performance and continue to build strong, healthy networks.

Cameron will be battling it out against four other business owners to take home the coveted Next Generation accolade in November.

The Next Generation category seeks to celebrate franchisees aged 30 and under who are new to the world of franchising but have shown great passion.

Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchising Association, congratulated finalists:

“For many franchisees the risk of investing into the franchising world can be scary, the finalists in this category have proved that age is simply a number and experience doesn’t need to be achieved in years. Fabulous examples to our next generation, we look forward to celebrating with Cameron on 24 November.”

Gillian Morris, Head of Franchising, HSBC, said:

“The annual awards are a celebration of the achievements of the franchise sector, as well as the high standards of the finalists, their innovation and resilience demonstrated over the past year. We look forward to celebrating success with Cameron.”
