The details that you provide during registration, bookings, or at any time are important. The registered user (you) undertakes to ensure that they are correct and complete. You agree to inform us of any changes to the information you provided when registering by updating your personal details.


These Terms of Use and any disputes arising from or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws of England and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. We do not make any promise that the materials on thebfa.org are appropriate or available for use in locations outside the United Kingdom and using thebfa.org from territories where its use or material or contents is unlawful is prohibited.

Thebfa.org is owned and operated by the British Franchise Association. The British Franchise Association is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England, number: 1341267. Its registered offices are Centurion Court, 85f Milton Park, Abingdon OX14 4RY United Kingdom. We are a not-for-profit membership organisation and are the self regulatory body for franchising in the UK. The bfa is a member of the European Franchise Federation and a founder of the World Franchise Council.

Your registered details and security

Some interaction with thebfa.org will require you to register and you will be asked to create a password. You must keep this password confidential and must not disclose it or share it with anyone. Please note that you will be responsible for activities and orders that occur or are submitted under your password. If you know or suspect that someone else knows your password you should notify us immediately.

Content on thebfa.org is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property and proprietary rights. You may use the thebfa.org and display, download on any single computer or print a single copy of any material for your personal or professional use provided you do not further copy or modify the page including without limitation by removal of any notices. You may not otherwise reproduce, copy, distribute or use any material on thebfa.org without written permission from the bfa. Permanent copying and/or storage of material or reproduction or incorporation of any part of it in any other work in whatever media is expressly prohibited. Please contact the bfa press department via mailroom@thebfa.org for permission of use of material.

Products, services and events

Registered users of thebfa.org may be able to purchase goods and services such as publications and events from us. This should not be confused with the purchase of goods and services from third party sites linked to thebfa.org. Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change. In the event that we are unable to supply you with the products or services you will receive a full refund.

While we try and ensure that all prices on thebfa.org are accurate, errors may occur. If we discover an error we shall inform you as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If you cancel, and you have already paid for the products or services, you will receive a full refund.

Specific terms and conditions may apply to these purchases. Those specific terms and conditions incorporate these Terms and Conditions. In case of conflict, the specific terms and conditions of the products or service shall apply. In relation to some users you may have a statutory right to cancel a good or service within a certain period. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes that statutory right.

Thebfa.org contains links to third party resources on the internet. We do not endorse, approve or sanction (unless otherwise stated) nor are we responsible for any third party’s products, services, acts or omissions. There is no association or connection between us and the third party (unless otherwise stated) save for the provision of the link. We do not act in partnership with nor as agent for or on behalf of the third party to whom we provide links.

Links to Member, Supplier and Brand Partner websites do not provide an endorsement of their products or services other than any specific standards associated with an specific accreditation. In the case of accreditation it is acknowledged that it is still the responsibility of the user to be confident with the standards of the company through their own due diligence. No guarantees can be given by the bfa regarding any member, Supplier or Brand Partner. 


The British Franchise Association does not accept any liability or make any endorsements, guarantees or undertakings relating to the content of any members, Supplier or Brand Partner listing, or news items listed on thebfa.org.

Liability of the British Franchise Association

Whilst we endeavour to ensure that information on thebfa.org is correct, we shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use thebfa.org or any information contained on it or from any action or decision taken as a result of using thebfa.org or any such information.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law we disclaim liability for all implied or statutory warranties and conditions. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we, nor our employees, agents or other representatives, be liable for any special, indirect or consequential damages whatsoever including without limitation damages for loss of profits, loss of confidential or other information, business interruption arising from or in connection with the use of thebfa.org or otherwise in connection with the provision of goods and services under these Terms and Conditions. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury.


You hereby undertake, as a condition of use of thebfa.org, to indemnify us against any loss or damage suffered by us as a result of any breach by you of any of these Terms of Conditions.


We may terminate your use of thebfa.org at any time without notice.

Booking bfa Events or Training

  • All bookings of any bfa event, or training course will be considered provisional until the purchaser has agreed to these terms and conditions.
  • All bookings will be considered provisional without full payment for the ticket price being received by the bfa before the event unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • All ticket prices will be subject to VAT at the current rate applicable.
  • You may cancel a booking any time up to 14 days prior to the event date.
  • If you wish to cancel a booking within the 14 days prior to the event date, a partial refund or ticket exchange may be offered at the bfa’ s discretion. Reasons behind the cancellation must be given to the bfa in writing for the decision to be made. Any costs incurred due to the cancellation will not be refunded.
  • If you wish to cancel a booking within the 14 days prior to the event date and the bfa are able to re-sell the ticket, you will be issued a refund in full.
  • If you wish to transfer your ticket to a different person for attendance you must advise the bfa before the event due to dietary and registration purposes.
  • In the event that the bfa has to cancel your booking, or the whole event, all possible measures will be taken to provide an alternative booking or refund options.
  • All dietary requirements for those attending any bfa event must be advised to the bfa in accordance with the timeline requests stipulated by the bfa for each event it is required. The information will not be held on record for other events.
  • Any access requirements or other such special measures required by a purchaser to attend a bfa event must be communicated to the bfa prior to the event with as much warning as possible.
  • Personal details of those attending any bfa event will not be sold to any third parties.
  • Personal details of those attending events will not be shared with others attending events without prior consent.
  • All bfa events will adhere to the latest government advice and guidance with regards to COVID-19.
  • Any testing or control measures for an event to be COVID-19 safe will be shared with delegates upon booking. Any changes or updates will then be shared as soon as available.
  • If an event is listed as members only you will be required to confirm your brand is a current bfa member.
  • Any questions, queries, comments or additional requests must be submitted to the events team via email to events@thebfa.org
