Martin Mellor
A two-minute read.
We caught up with serial entrepreneur Martin Mellor recently to discuss his EweMove experience and successful business background.
Martin has a well thought out approach to running his franchise territories along with his business partner Rob Hammond and their wives. Their strategic and long-term thinking is already starting to pay off.
What’s your background Martin?
I was one of the UK’s first Vodafone franchisees and now own three stores. That’s how I met Rob, who was working with me at one of them. Rob had worked with me prior to Vodafone and we make a great partnership. We have a great team running the stores, which meant I had the time to look at other business options.
Why did you choose EweMove?
I wanted to ensure I had multiple revenue streams to accompany our other business interests. Rob and I did a lot of research into franchises, and to be honest, at first, I wasn’t particularly taken with EweMove. That all changed when we spoke with Jonathon Dawson, who runs the York franchise. Hearing about it from someone who was doing it and doing well was very reassuring. We then went to Bradford Cleckheaton to speak with Nick Neill and the head office team, we felt they were people we could do business with.
Also, I believe that property is a business where there is a consistent demand. Therefore, people will always need to move for whatever reason, which creates an opportunity for good estate agents.
That’s one of the main reasons we bought two territories initially and then quickly added two more because we’re confident this will be a success.
What’s next for you?
“We’re looking to establish ourselves as leading agents in the areas we serve. We will be getting more involved within the community and perhaps add a couple of local offices to give us more visibility.
“We will also be considering introducing associate agents to work with us. We’re looking forward to building our business in the future.”
What would you say to anyone considering a EweMove franchise?
Do your due diligence and research to see if EweMove is the right fit for you. It is hard work, and you need to get over the initial cash flow challenges. But there is a proven plan to follow, and the people at EweMove are genuine, know their stuff and are very supportive.
