Sarah Chilvers and Sophie Harker
Stamford and Spalding
Schoolfriends Sarah and Sophie run a successful EweMove franchise which has gone from strength to strength.
In this two-minute read, they share what makes their business thrive and their approach to looking after colleagues and growing it.
What’re your backgrounds?
Sophie – I’ve been in estate agency since leaving school. I started as a Saturday girl and went from there. I love property, and that’s why I’ve stayed in the industry.
Sarah – I’m a qualified financial adviser and have known Sophie since we were 11 years old.
Why did you choose EweMove?
Sophie: I worked for the founders Glenn and David in their property business before they set up EweMove. I was offered a pilot franchise, and because I had faith in David and Glenn and could see EweMove’s potential, I decided to give it a go. This was back in 2013.
Sarah: In 2016, Sophie asked if I wanted to join her at EweMove. I knew it would be a good partnership as we’re very good friends and have shared values, but also very different personalities and skills sets to offer. I knew Sophie was making a real success of it, and I wanted to join and help grow the business.
You have four children under the ages of four between you – How do you balance family and work life?
The EweMove model is very flexible, and we’re a great example of that. We have the structures in place like call answering with Moneypenny, webchat through Yomdel and the head office support.
We have a great team of people who work with us, and that allows us the flexibility to balance two growing families and one growing business.
What are your plans for the future?
We’ve acquired a lettings portfolio and are keen to continue that growth.
We’re constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and ensure that our team is well looked after, feels valued, and suitably rewarded for all their hard work.
What would you say to anyone considering a EweMove franchise?
If you can bring the right mindset and a strong work ethic, anything is possible. You have the systems and support teamed with a large pool of other franchisees you can call on for advice and ideas.
Our main advice would be to just run with the plan you are given, and you will succeed.
