Wendy is one of these stars who swapped a career in the probation service to helping people sell their homes.
What’s your background, Wendy?
I’ve had a varied career with roles in the fire and probation services and managing hostels.
I didn’t like the direction the probation service was moving and began to look for other career paths.
I first became aware of EweMove through a pop-up advert and thought this looked interesting but put it to the back of my mind.
Why did you choose EweMove?
We put our house up for sale, and Mike Palmer from EweMove came to value it. We got on well, and he sold the home for us. I asked about EweMove, and he spoke very highly of it.
This made me look further into it, and I liked what I saw.
I believe life’s too short not to try new things, so I went for it and secured a franchise.
When did you open for business, and what were your initial experiences?
In October 2018, we opened, and I enjoyed being in control of my own time and being in a position where it was down to me to do an excellent job for my clients. In other roles, I felt too dependent on others to do their side of the service offering, but with EweMove, you have much more personal control, and this helps deliver the results people want from you using you as an agent.
What’s next for you?
I’ve recently employed two associates and am looking forward to them helping me grow the business to have even more flexibility in my working day.
What would you say to someone with no estate agency experience but interested in a EweMove franchise?
Be prepared to work hard and make sacrifices initially. You must approach this by being fully committed and be clear about how many homes you’ll need to sell each month. You’ll get plenty of support from your colleagues and head office, but the rest is up to you.
