Q: Who can become QFC?
A: The QFC programme is recommended for Franchisors and Franchisees, regardless of where they are in the life cycle of their business. It is also highly recommended for the entire Franchise Community as outlined below, as the insights, and methodologies will help anyone who wants to build on their experience and strengthen their understanding of an ethical and transformative approach to coaching within Franchising.

Q: Do I need to be a BFA Member to do the QFC?
A: No, anyone can complete the QFC programme, however, members benefit from significantly reduced rates.
Q: How many places are available on a cohort?
A: A QFC cohort has a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 places available, so it is important to book early, as the academy programmes do tend to get booked up quickly.
Q: How many points does my experience earn?
A: once you have completed the 12-month programme and been awarded QFC status you will receive 600 CPD Points.
Q: Do I need to have any experience in franchising?
A: No, you don’t need experience in Franchising to enrol in the QFC, however, the QFC programme has been tailored to the specific nuances of franchising, so it is particularly well suited to people working in the franchising industry or planning to franchise their own business.
Q: Do I need to have any experience in coaching?
A: No, you don’t need experience in coaching to enrol in the QFC, this 12-month programme will teach and guide you in how to provide coaching within the franchise community.
Q: Do I need to attend all modules?
A: Yes, you will need to attend all core modules to complete your qualification. However, if you are unable to attend one of the modules due to extraordinary circumstances, we will do whatever we can to ensure you can catch up.
Q: Do I need to attend any other events to qualify?
A: No. The QFC is a stand-alone programme with all mandatory activities and modules detailed within the cohort schedule in order to qualify.
Q: Do I need to earn CPD Points to qualify?
A: No. The QFC is different to the CPD points system within the QFP programme. However, you will achieve 600 CPD Points once you qualify which can be used towards your QFP qualification.
Q: How do I qualify and become a QFC?
1. Start your professional learning journey to become a Qualified Franchise Coach by completing the registration process.
2. Secure your place.
Book onto the next available cohort and pay the fee to secure your place.
3. Face to Face and Virtual Events Calendar
Block all of the dates and times into your calendar, to ensure that you fulfil your personal promise to attend every event.
4. Post event actions.
Create and submit a copy of your post session Personal Action Plan, confirming your commitment to embedding the learning by completing the required tasks before the next session.
5. Coaching Practice & Supervision.
Plan and deliver the required number of Coaching hours throughout the course, and attend all group coaching and supervision sessions, to enhance your coaching practice.
6. Course Completion
Complete the required 24 hours of coaching delivery and submit the required 1000 word reflective learning summary covering all 12 modules.
Becoming qualified and use your knowledge to benefit your business and others providing coaching.
Q: What happens once I qualify?
A: You will be awarded a certificate of completion, this certificate may be used to demonstrate your professional development and qualifications to current and future employers, clients, and other professional organisations. You will also be awarded the use of “QFC” after your name in any public area such as a social media profile or email signature.
Once you qualify you will also receive 600 CPD Points.
Q: What happens if I do not qualify?
A: The Franchology and Academy teams will work with you on a personal development plan to ensure you have all you need to qualify.
Q: Who awards this certification?
A: This certification is awarded by the British Franchise Association Academy to individuals who complete all required elements of the QFC programme. The Universal Coaching Alliance certifies this training qualification as Accredited Certificate in Coach Training (ACCT) level. Currently UCA is not vat registered.
Q: Will I receive a certificate?
A: Yes, upon successful completion of the QFC program, you will receive a certificate. The certificate will be mailed to you within two weeks after your notification of qualification. The certificate will recognise your achievements in the program and serve as proof of your professional development and qualifications. To receive the certificate, you will need to have met all the program requirements. If for any reason you do not qualify, you will not be able to receive the certificate.
To receive the certificate, please make sure to provide us with your correct current mailing address, this way we can ensure that your certificate arrives to you safely and on time. Q: How can I pay? What payment options are available?
A: Online Payment: This option allows the customer to make a payment using a credit or debit card directly through the website. This option is convenient and fast, and it allows for real-time processing of the payment.
Request an invoice: This option allows the customer to request an invoice to be sent to them. They can then pay the invoice using traditional methods such as a bank transfer.
Q: How much is the registration fee?
A: The registration fee is £100.00 + VAT and it is non-refundable. If you have already registered with the BFA Academy within the past three years, you will not be required to register and pay the registration fee again.
Q: Can I transfer my place to someone else?
A: Yes, if the cohort you are enrolled in has not started. If the cohort has already started the request will need to be made in writing to the Academy team, events@thebfa.org
It may be possible to transfer a registration fee if no action has been taken but this would need to be applied for in writing by emailing events@thebfa.org
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: This would be considered on a case-by-case factor dependant on what stage the participant is at within the program. Requests of cancellation and refunds would need to be submitted to the Academy team, events@thebfa.org
Q: What if I go on maternity leave or long sick leave? / Can I pause?
A: If you go on maternity leave or long sick leave and are unable to attend training dates, you may request to place your program on hold by submitting a suspension request form. This will allow you to pause your participation in the program until you are able to return and continue your studies. Please contact the Academy team for more information on the on-hold process and how to submit the form.
Q: What happens If I leave the franchise industry or change employers’ mid-way through the QFC?
A: You will still be able to continue with your learning journey provided your new employer agrees for you to continue.
Q: When do I receive my student materials?
A: You will receive some of the materials once your registration is complete. Other materials will be sent to you prior to each training module to ensure the most recent version of any documents is utilised.
Q: Does the QFC expire?
A: The QFC certification does not expire. Best practice is that Coaches are members of a Professional Coaching Body, such as Universal Coaching Alliance (UCA), Association for Coaching (AC), European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) or International Coaching federation (ICF), engage in regular and consistent Coach supervision, adhere to a code of ethics, and do a minimum of 20 hours continuing professional development on an annual basis.
Q: Can I book the QFC for my team or a private group?
A: Yes, you can book the QFC for your team members or a private group only. If you would like to book the QFC program for your team or organisation, please contact the Academy team for more information. A team member will be able to provide you with details on group rates, scheduling, and any other necessary information. Discounts are available for groups of 12 or more.

A: The QFP is the formal recognition of your professional knowledge and experience in franchising. It demonstrates that you understand the complexities and best practice in franchising and have invested time to continuously develop your understanding. Intrinsically linked to the learning from standards led learning events, this qualification allows you to capitalise on the synergy between extended learning and existing good business practice. You can increase and extend your knowledge and experience in synergy with your ongoing work commitments. All course modules and learning events that make up the core and elective learning for the QFP are provided by the British Franchise Association and companies accredited by the BFA.

The BFA Annual Conference hosts a wide array of professional speakers and imperative content areas that are critical to the success of franchising. The event is a flagship and provides ongoing updated learning and innovation within the franchise industry.
How to Understand Franchisees’ Financial Performance: 2 days, 500 points
This course will give you a practical understanding of business finance and accounts, and how this should be applied to the monitoring of a franchise network. Finances can provide a wealth of information about a franchisee’s business and their performance but are often overlooked by franchisors due to lack of time or understanding. This course will give you the skills needed to understand and analyse accounts in an efficient way to boost the performance of your network.
How to Market Your Franchise and Recruit for Network Growth: 2 days, 500 points
Recruiting the right franchisees in the right manner is a critical factor in the successful growth and long-term sustainability of franchise brands. Recruiting franchisees is often quoted as the most difficult aspect of franchising. Finding the right franchisees in the right place at the right time is hard enough for any system.
How to Motivate Franchisees: 1 day, 250 points
This course will give participants an enhanced appreciation and better understanding of why it is imperative to motivate and inspire franchisees. One of the most important functions of franchisee management is to create willingness amongst the franchisees to perform to the best of their abilities.
How to Monitor Franchisee Performance: 1 day, 250 points
Underperforming franchisees can damage the brand, drain support resource, and erode the value of their own businesses. Identifying the symptoms and causes of underperformance at the earliest possible opportunity, and applying the correct intervention strategies and tactics, can preserve and grow a franchisee’s equity, as well as reduce risks to the franchisor and the rest of the network.

A: The QFP is designed to sit naturally with many existing learning events that you are probably already involved in at some level. The total investment is unlikely to exceed £3,500 +VAT over the three-year period. This includes a one-off £100 + VAT administration fee which will get you registered, provide you with your delegate information and enable you commence your journey to becoming a qualified franchise professional.
Q: What is included in the QFP training course investment?
A: QFP training course investment covers the registration fee and QFP core module fees only.
Q: Where will it take place? And how long is each session?
A: The Qualified Franchise Professional (QFP) course takes place in a virtual format, making it accessible to anyone, regardless of their location. The course is designed to be completed in 6 hours, and it starts at 10:00 and finishes no later than 16.00. This allows participants to balance it with their daily activities. The virtual format also means that participants can participate from the comfort of their own homes or offices, eliminating the need for travel and accommodation. The course is designed to be interactive and engaging, using a variety of multimedia materials to enhance the learning experience.
With the virtual format, participants can also connect with other franchise professionals from around the UK, providing a valuable networking opportunity.
Q: What is a Logbook?
A: This is your Delegate Logbook which allows you to record all events attended that contribute towards your QFP qualification. In this Logbook record the date, the name of the event or module, what you expected to get out of the activity and what you actually got out of it. It is essential that you complete this logbook as you go through your QFP. It will need to be submitted as evidence prior to your Professional Dialogue.
Q: What do I need to take part?
A: A computer or other device with internet access: The QFP training is conducted in a virtual format, so you will need a device with internet access to participate in the course.
A webcam and microphone: The virtual format allows for interactive and engaging instruction, so you will need a webcam and microphone to participate in the training.
A reliable internet connection: A stable internet connection is essential to ensure that you can participate in the training without interruption.
A quiet place to attend the course: You will need a quiet and comfortable place to attend the course and focus on the instruction.
Q: What happens if I can’t attend the BFA Annual Conference?
A: It is important to ensure you allow yourself enough time to complete your QFP. If you anticipate that you might not be able to attend the BFA Annual Conference we suggest doing the QFP on a Flexipath basis and allow yourself 3 years to complete and attend the conference, however, if you are enrolled in a Cohort and you can’t attend the conference, please speak to one of our BFA Academy team.
Q: Do I need to have experience?
A: No, you don’t need experience in franchising to enrol in the QFP Qualification. However, the Qualified Professional Training is suitable for those working in franchising industry or planning to franchise their own business.

A: Students may apply for exemption from a module if they can demonstrate relevant industry experience and current work in that field.

A: The Professional Dialogue is a structured interview discussion between you and the Expert Panel and can take up to an hour. The basis for the dialogue is two written statements we will ask you to provide ahead of the meeting.
Q: Where is the Professional Dialogue going to take place?
A: The QFP Professional Dialogue Interview takes place in a virtual format, via Zoom, making it accessible to anyone, regardless of their location.

A: Once you have completed your 3000 CPD points, a member from the BFA Academy team will reach out to you to assist you in booking your Professional Dialogue. They will provide you with the available dates and times and help you to schedule the session that works best for you. They will also provide you with any necessary information or forms that you will need to complete to register for the Professional Dialogue interview. Q: Where can I submit my Professional Dialogue?
A: To submit your Professional Dialogue materials, please send your statements, CV, and logbook to events@thebfa.org , 10 working days before your scheduled interview. This will ensure that your materials are received and reviewed in a timely manner. Please ensure that all materials are submitted in the required format and that they meet the

A: If you pass your QFP Professional Dialogue, you have successfully completed the program and have met all the necessary requirements. Congratulations! It’s also important to note that your professional development is ongoing, there is an element of Continuous Personal Development (CPD) required to maintain your QFP learnings. We ask you to accumulate 600 CPD points a year by continuing to attend BFA events and seminars (ie: BFA Annual Conference and one Seminar would cover this requirement). Q: What happens if I fail?
A: If you fail your QFP Professional Dialogue, you will not have met the requirements of the program and will not be awarded a certificate of completion.
You will be provided with feedback on areas where you need improvement and the BFA Academy team will help you complete a personal action plan and reschedule your Professional Dialogue interview. Please be aware that there will be no additional charge for rescheduling your Professional interview.
It’s important to keep in mind that failing the QFP Professional Dialogue doesn’t mean that you’re not capable of succeeding, it may mean that you need more time, support, or additional training to reach the required level of understanding or performance.
Q: What happens if I need reschedule my Professional Dialogue?
A: We advise you to book your QFP Professional Dialogue at your convenience and allow yourself enough time to prepare.
However, if you need to reschedule you Professional Dialogue interview, we request you to give us 4 weeks’ notice.
Please be aware that you can reschedule your interview a maximum of three times.
Q: Who are the trainers?

A: Yes, you can back-date your points from the previous year before starting your QFP program. However, please note that the maximum time frame for back-dating points is 12 months. This means that you can only claim points for activities that took place within the past 12 months before the start of your QFP program.
Q: What are the next steps after I complete my QFP?
A: There is an element of Continuous Personal Development (CPD) required to maintain your QFP learnings.
