As the world braced for the turn of the millennium, fears of global chaos ran wild. The infamous Y2K “millennium bug” was expected to send aeroplanes hurtling from the sky and launch missiles by accident. Yet, when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2000, nothing happened. Life went on, but with the welcome addition of a new business that would improve the lives of thousands of young people across the UK.
Razzamataz Theatre Schools launched in 2000, bringing creativity, confidence, and opportunity to children and young people nationwide. Fast forward 25 years, and the journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From a memorable appearance on BBC’s Dragons’ Den that catapulted the brand into the spotlight to student performances on inspiring stages in London’s West End, Dubai and Paris, Razzamataz continues to push boundaries.
This year, we kicked off our 25th anniversary celebrations in style with two incredible Conferences, one in Penrith and one in London, setting the stage for a year of reflection, innovation, and continued success.
Marking our 25th anniversary, the Conference theme, Thriving with Impact, inspired the team to reflect on the past while looking to the future. It encompassed not only the growth and success of our students but also the continued development of our franchisees, teachers, and those looking to join our ever-evolving brand.
Over the past 25 years, our network has grown, evolved, and thrived, making a meaningful impact on the lives of students, families, and communities. The Conference reflected the incredible journey we’ve taken, what exciting updates are planned for this special year and how we will take the brand into the future.
Hosted by Hayley Limpkin, former Razzamataz franchisee and now a Business Coach, Hayley highlighted the exciting vision for the year ahead while celebrating the incredible achievements that have brought us to this significant milestone. Hayley also led a session on succession planning, exploring its importance, particularly when considering an exit strategy.
Additional speakers included Liam Wilson from Elevate Accountancy, who provided key insights into how to drive the triple bottom line focusing on people, profit, and planet, areas fundamental for success. Alongside the numbers, Razzamataz are committed to investing in their people. Wellness, business, and lifestyle coaches Amanda Birnie and Emily Louise Connor unpicked the barriers that hold us back while inspiring attendees to embrace new opportunities, build resilience, and unlock full potential for personal and professional growth.
Helen, franchisee at Razzamataz Manchester South shared her experience with the Head Office team: “Attending my first Razzamataz Conference was an incredibly inspiring experience. It was amazing to be surrounded by such passion and energy. Amanda’s session was a real highlight, reminding me how important it is to look after myself and invest in both my personal growth and business success. The focus on the triple bottom line, People, Profit, and Planet, really resonated, and the unveiling of the new branding was such an exciting moment. I’m feeling motivated, empowered, and ready to take bold steps forward.”
Razzamataz values the insights and experiences of its franchisees. That’s why Matty, franchisee of West Cumbria and Operations Manager, along with Charlotte, franchisee of Maidstone, were invited to share their stories at the Conference about their experiences of how they have used tools to help them keep their focus much closer to the numbers. Asha Richardson also shared her inspiring journey as a franchisee while managing her charity work in Ghana, exploring how, as a collective network, we can raise even more funds for Razzamataz’s Future Fund charity to help more young people achieve their dreams.
A highlight from the event was awarding the coveted title of Franchisee of the Year. This year it was awarded to Debbie Hyslop, a long standing and valuable member of our network and franchisee of Razzamataz Carlisle and Dumfries. Debbie shared her own inspiring story before she was surprised to learn she had been selected to be a winner. The judges were impressed with not only her exceptional student growth, but also her commitment to supporting the network as a member of the FAC. As a multi-territory owner who fully embraces many of the Razzamataz add-ons and events, Debbie continues to set an inspiring example of dedication and passion. What’s even more impressive, is that Debbie has faced many major life events over the last few years including having young children, a wedding, bereavement and a house move.
Razzamataz are passionate about nurturing talent and supporting every team member to reach their full potential. They encourage progression through initiatives like the Managers Training Programme, which equips future leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive. Managers are also invited to key events such as the annual Conference, where they can network, gain fresh insights, and be inspired by expert speakers. Paige, Manager at Razzamataz Sheffield shared her experiences of the Conference: “I felt so welcome the minute I walked through the door. Meeting old and
new faces and being in a room with so many creative individuals has filled my heart and I left feeling so fulfilled and inspired. The day was fantastic and it was great to collaborate, share ideas and experiences and learn from others.”

The incredible celebrations are far from over. There are many opportunities planned throughout the year for students to get involved with and the network are once again joining together to celebrate this milestone with a celebration meal at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in September.

“Thank you and our amazing Head Office team for another fabulous Conference. We found the day incredibly inspirational and have woken up simply buzzing with new ideas. One of my personal favourite parts was the specific challenge to our mindsets, which has freed my brain to evolve and directly impacted the strategy and vision of our schools. We were so excited for the unveiling of the re-brand, which is just so cool and it was nice to hear all the thought process behind it,” Felicity, franchisee Razzamataz Billericay, Chelmsford and Maldon.
