At its core, franchising entails franchisor and franchisee celebrating their successes, hand in hand. By way of a perfect example, Snap-on Tools is revelling in the news of not one but two award nominations in the 2024 British Franchise Awards.
On the 15th of July, the tool giant was named as a finalist in the ‘Established Franchisor of the Year Award’. Whilst powerhouse franchisee, Elio Auletta, was revealed as a finalist in the category ‘Franchisee Trailblazer’. No stranger to the awards programme, Snap-on has been a finalist in various categories for the last four years and won the title of Bronze Franchisor of the Year in 2020.
In association with the HSBC UK and British Franchise Association (BFA), the British Franchise Awards recognise the very best franchised businesses in the country, celebrating consistent growth, innovation and contribution to the sector. Franchising contributes over £17.2billion to UK GDP and more than 710,000 people are employed in the industry across the country.
“To be a finalist as a franchisor and to have Elio shortlisted alongside us in the franchisee categories is a source of enormous pride,” said Lisa Law, National Franchise Manager at Snap-on Tools. “It’s synonymous with everything we do as a business – franchisor and franchisees in partnership together. The phenomenal success of our network over the last few years is the result of our collective ambition and determination to provide the best service and highest quality tools available in the marketplace.”
Founded in the US in 1920 and launched in the UK in 1965, Snap-on proudly boasts over 100 years in the tool trade. With a proven business model that has been refined in the UK for nearly 60 years, Snap-on has earned a reputation as ‘the best in the business’. Today, the tool giant has hundreds of franchisees operating territories in the UK and Ireland, and globally the franchise network is made up of more than 4,500 franchises.
“To be shortlisted in these prestigious awards, franchise brands must demonstrate that they are a strong advocate of ethical franchising, successfully navigating economic challenges and changing consumer demand,” said a spokesperson for the BFA. “Finalists have evidenced a strong infrastructure and support for their network, ensuring franchisees have the best environment to succeed and reach their full potential. Our panel of expert judges are looking for strategies that stand out from the crowd along with substantial evidence to support positive network impact.”
These latest nominations come hot on the heels of Snap-on’s seemingly never-ending string of achievements for franchisor and franchisee alike. The brand was named the UK’s number one franchise in 2023 and 2024 in the prestigious Elite Franchise Top 100 awards whilst franchisees scooped titles including Luke Henderson’s Great British Franchisee award in late 2023.
