*How did you hear about Jigsaw Performing Arts?**
My introduction to Jigsaw Performing Arts came through my Dad who was working at a
School that Jigsaw Performing Arts Stevenage ran out of. Intrigued by the reputation
Jigsaw had built within the community for providing quality performing arts education, I
decided to research them further. Their vibrant classes, professional instructors, and
community-driven approach resonated with my values, encouraging me to explore the
possibility of working for them. I ended up working at various different Jigsaw Schools
for around six years.
**Why did you want to Franchise with Jigsaw?**
My desire to franchise with Jigsaw stemmed from a strong personal passion for the
performing arts and a desire to make a difference in my community. Jigsaw has a
reputable brand and a well-defined business model, which significantly reduces the risk
associated with starting a new venture from scratch. The prospect of becoming part of
an established network dedicated to children’s education and empowerment was
immensely appealing. I recognized that Jigsaw supports creativity and confidence in
children, and I wanted to be part of that mission.
**Did you have any performing arts experience?**
I had a huge passion for the performing arts, while my professional and education
experience with it didn’t work out I felt I had foundational skills needed to support both
students and instructors. I embraced the challenge of enhancing my knowledge in
performing arts through training and workshops provided by Jigsaw, committing to being
a competent leader within my franchise.
**Have you ever run your own business before?**
Prior to franchising with Jigsaw, I had not operated my own business. My professional
experience primarily revolved around working within the construction industry which
couldn’t be further away from Jigsaw! Franchising with Jigsaw was my first venture into
running my own business. What appealed to me was the comprehensive support
structure that Jigsaw provides to franchisees, allowing me to transition into this new role
with confidence, despite my lack of prior business ownership and knowledge.
**Do you receive Training/Support at Jigsaw?**
Yes, Jigsaw Performing Arts provides extensive training and ongoing support for its
franchisees. From the initial onboarding process to continuous professional development,
the franchise equips its owners with the tools needed to succeed. I participated in a
detailed training program that encompassed everything from operational procedures and
marketing strategies to teaching methodologies. The support does not end there; regular
check-ins with the franchise support team ensure that I’m never alone in navigating the
challenges of running my business.
**When did you launch?**
I officially launched my Jigsaw Performing Arts franchise in February 2020. Little did I
know that one month later a global pandemic would put a halt to my school being able to
open. The months after this were scary but through the support and guidance from
Jigsaw, we were able to navigate our way out of the pandemic in a safe and professional
way, without losing the core of what we do.
**What do you do outside of Jigsaw?**
Outside of my commitments to Jigsaw, I am actively involved in the local community. I
lead a local theatre company, working within the community putting on shows inclusive
of anyone and everyone. These activities not only enrich my understanding of the
industry but also provide networking opportunities that can benefit my franchise directly.
Monday to Friday I now own and run a welding and fabrications company specialising in
structural steel, gates and railings. Having the experience of running my own business at
Jigsaw has definitely helped me with this business too.
**What advice would you offer to anyone thinking about taking on a franchise? Why is it
a good route compared to starting a business on your own?**
For anyone contemplating franchising, my primary advice would be to thoroughly
research the brand and its values. Ensure that their mission aligns with your personal
and professional goals. Franchising offers a lower-risk path compared to starting a
business independently, as it provides ready-made systems, brand recognition, and a
supportive network of like-minded individuals. As a franchisee, you gain the benefits of
established best practices without the steep learning curve associated with building a
brand from scratch. The opportunity to lean on others who have walked the same path
and share insights can tremendously ease the challenges of business ownership.
**Conclusion**
Franchising with Jigsaw Performing Arts has been a fulfilling journey filled with personal
growth, professional development, and meaningful community impact. With strong brand
support and a commitment to the performing arts, I believe that franchising presents a
compelling option for aspiring people looking to make a difference
