After five years of building a successful care business in South Middlesex, Visiting Angels franchisee Andrew Murray has committed to the next stage of his journey, renewing his agreement for a further 10 years. Having launched the territory in 2021 alongside his father Paul, Andrew has established a strong local presence while growing a stable and committed care team, with his decision to renew reflecting both his confidence in the model and his long-term commitment to the brand.

Reflecting on the decision, Andrew said the renewal was a natural step after seeing how the Visiting Angels model works in practice over time. “It’s something you understand better the longer you’re part of it,” he said. “The structure, the support and the values behind it all become clearer as you go, and for us it’s consistently worked in the way we’d hoped. That’s what gives you the confidence to commit long term.”

Since joining the network, Andrew has built a care service shaped around consistency, relationships and local understanding – supported by a framework designed to maintain standards while allowing each franchise to reflect its community.

“You’ve got a clear way of working with Visiting Angels, especially around how you support your team and deliver care,” he explained. “But you’re also trusted to run your own business and make decisions locally. That balance is important because it lets you build something that fits your area while still staying aligned with the brand.”

A defining part of that model is Visiting Angels’ ‘carer-centric’ approach, which places carers at the heart of the business. Andrew says this has been a key factor in both the day-to-day running of the service and its long-term sustainability.

“Carer-centricity isn’t just a message – it holds up over time,” he said. “It shapes how you recruit, how you support people and how your team develops. When you stick to that, you end up with a more stable team – and that consistency is what clients really value.”

Alongside the model itself, Andrew also highlighted the strength of support from the wider Visiting Angels network – including regular engagement with head office and collaboration with other franchisees. “There’s always that backing there when you need it,” he said. “Whether it’s guidance from head office or just being able to speak to other franchisees who’ve been through similar situations, it makes a big difference. You’re running your own business, but you’re not doing it in isolation.”

Andrew’s decision to renew comes as Visiting Angels continues to expand across the UK, with over 70 franchisees delivering high-quality home care services in their local communities.

Dan Archer, UK CEO of Visiting Angels, said Andrew’s long-term commitment reflects both the strength of the model and the consistency of its values. “At Visiting Angels, one of our core values is ‘family’ and the South Middlesex team truly brings that to life. As a family-run business, they’ve built a close-knit team of caregivers and office staff who support local families with genuine care and connection.”
