10 February 2026: As schools across the UK mark Safer Internet Day and the theme ‘Smart tech, safe choices’, children in Southwark are gaining valuable digital confidence and online safety awareness through hands‑on computing classes led by former self‑driving car programmer Khang Pham Minh, 29.
Since launching ComputerXplorers Southwark in autumn 2025, Khang has been sharing his passion for technology through coding lessons, robotics workshops and Minecraft clubs for children aged 6–11. Practical online safety is built into these sessions, helping children understand how to navigate technology thoughtfully and safely.
Khang studied Computer Science and Robotics, followed by a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence in Singapore, before applying his knowledge in industry as a programmer for self‑driving cars. This real‑world experience, he says, helps him teach children not just how technology works but why safe, responsible choices matter.
“I wish I’d had this kind of class when I was younger. I love technology and sharing that passion with children in a hands-on way is incredibly rewarding. We’re playing with these cool ‘toys’ like robots and wearable tech. But at the same time, we’re talking through topics like why robots need clear instructions, what our digital footprint is and considering big questions like the theme of Safer Internet Day: “Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”.
Khang and ComputerXplorers Southwark run a Minecraft Academy and a Tech Explorers weekend academy at Notre Dame RC Girls School.
