When choosing the right franchise, are you also choosing the right people?

Radfield Home Care

Radfield Home Care has been shortlisted for three awards this year – all are a really huge deal, though there’s one in particular which I think can give us a special kind of insight into what this franchise is all about – and what you’d be joining as their partner.

The first two are as prestigious as this industry gets: Franchisor of the Year and Franchise Support, both at the British Franchise Association awards.

This kind of external recognition is worth paying attention to when you’re considering a franchise. They’re not just a measure of success, but a clear endorsement of how well this franchise works for people who have trusted it with their savings, their time and their future.

Franchise Support, in particular, is about what happens after you sign the paperwork and start running your business. Will you have people around you who want you to succeed? Will they be there when things get difficult?

Two BFA shortlists confirm that, at Radfield, the answer is a resounding “yes”.

But the third award tells you something different

Radfield has also been named a finalist for the Saffery Award for Family-Owned Business of the Year at the 2026 Growing Business Awards. Of all three, I think this award could be the most important – especially for you. It says something really significant about the kind of organisation Radfield Home Care is, and therefore the kind of network you’d be joining.

Radfield was founded, and is still led, by brother and sister Alex Green and Dr Hannah MacKechnie. Their parents ran residential care homes before them, so care isn’t a market they simply decided to enter. It’s the world they grew up in.

That heritage still runs through the business today, from its ‘Be There’ movement and ethos to the way it treats care professionals, clients and franchise partners.

There are plenty of things you should look for when choosing a franchise: the numbers, the business model, the territory, the training and the support – but there’s another question that’s at least as important:

What sort of people do you want to build your business with?

Choose Radfield Home Care, and you’re choosing a family-run business that has spent years building a wider franchise family around it. That creates a particular kind of relationship, one where you’re not simply a number in a network, but someone whose success matters to the people at the centre of the business.

Those are the kind of values which matter hugely when evaluating an opportunity, but they’re also ones which matter beyond your own experience, too.

The families who turn to Radfield Home Care are often dealing with something difficult. An older person who is finding it harder and harder to cope. Someone who has spent years caring for their mum or dad suddenly finds themselves wondering how much longer they can manage it.

Good care can change all of that.

When you’re running a care business, being part of an organisation whose values are rooted in family, relationships and simply being there for people gives you something meaningful to bring to that work.

It’s the kind of difference you can stand behind and be proud of.
