The moment everything gets real – Rob Dancy’s CQC journey

Radfield Home Care

There’s something genuinely special about watching someone go from talking about change to actually making it happen.

If you missed it, Rob used to be a franchise consultant with The Franchising Centre – helping people like you explore whether joining the Radfield Home Care franchise could be their future. Then one day, he took a step back and thought: “Why not me?” You can read his first steps in the story which was added in November this year “After seeing 100s of franchises, he chose Radfield – Rob Dancy’s 1st month with the franchise” on this site.

We’re now following him through every step he takes as he moves through all the critical milestones of building something truly special for himself and his community, in Tarporley & Mid Cheshire. Last month, he succeeded in recruiting a wonderful, very experienced Registered Care Manager to his team, and he’s already started receiving enquiries and planning how he will recruit his first care professionals.

It’s all coming together beautifully, but now comes one of his biggest hurdles yet: his CQC registration.

It’s one of the biggest challenges every new care business has to face

Gaining Care Quality Commission accreditation can be really tough. Without it, Rob won’t even be able to send out a single care professional to support regulated care.

Think of all the worst stories you’ve heard about OFSTED inspections and other government schemes, and double it. It means every aspect of you and your business will be under scrutiny and can be a nightmare of bureaucracy.

For a new care business just getting off the ground, it is, without a doubt, the hardest thing you will have to do.

Fortunately, it’s not something he has to face alone – and neither will you.

When you join Radfield Home Care, you’re not just getting a business model that works commercially. You’re stepping into a framework that’s been refined over decades across dozens of locations, including a proven pathway through CQC registration.

By joining a well-structured and organised brand such as Radfield Home Care, who already have decades of experience operating across dozens of sites, you’ll immediately have access to resources which would normally take years to perfect, such as:

  • Systems and procedures that already work – not theoretical best practice, but approaches that have successfully passed CQC scrutiny time and time again.
  • Templates and guidelines designed by people who truly understand care – the documentation, the policies, the frameworks you need, all ready to adapt to your specific territory
  • Expert guidance from head office – people who’ve been through this process many, many times and know exactly where the pitfalls lie
  • Real-world evidence of compliance – concrete examples of what good looks like from existing Radfield partners

It will still be a challenge, even with Radfield’s help, but you’ll be greatly reducing your risk of failure and doing everything possible to streamline your route to success.

As Rob says:

“Applying for CQC feels pretty daunting. There’s so much to think about and my whole business relies on this. It has to be absolutely right, and there is a lot that needs to come together in exactly the right way. Fortunately, I’ve had plenty of support and advice from Radfield and am feeling pretty confident. I can’t imagine how hard this would be if I had to do it alone!”

We’ll keep you posted on how he gets on! All being well, he should hear the result early in 2026.

Once that happens, Rob’s business truly begins. He’ll be legally able to provide the kind of person-centred, high-quality care that Radfield is known for. His team will start making a real difference in people’s lives across Mid Cheshire – and we’ll be there to show you how he does it.
